LFD Cross Bars and Awning Mounting

TLDR: Anyone have LFD cross bars that they've mounted an awning to?
I'm planning to mount an OVS 6.5' straight pull awning to these cross bars. Trying to keep this setup as low profile as possible.



I will likely fabricate some brackets since LFD's awning mounts are $75 after shipping.

The goal is to mount the awning as low as possible while still allowing the doors to open of course. About 4" lower than this setup would be ideal:

 

I don't have any notes on installing to LFD crossbars as I went "up and out" on a set on Inno crossbars; but I don't think I'd want to go any lower on the roof - otherwise you wouldn't be able to stand under the awning up close to the truck, unless you are super short.

 

Yes I believe this why most mounts locate the awning higher. In my case however It can be low profile. After a 3.5" lift and 34's my truck is much taller than I am at 6'1"

The awning mount being just above the doors would work well for me. Can't seem to find any simple solutions apart from the LFD mounts. They are not a terrible deal but I haven't found any published data from OVS on their awning's mount dimensions. So buying brackets just to end up having to modify or fabricate my own seems like a waste of time and money.

Figured I'd reach out and see if anyone has found a low profile mount that works with the LFD crossbars and OVS awning.

If you end up building your own probably install a gusset like my ARB ones pictured below. It appears from your image in post 1 that the LFD ones are ungusseted...? I am no engineer but I think there's a weird amount of stress placed on those mounts since the awning is held away from them and tends to flop around a lot offroad (not the aluminum spine of the awning as that's solid to the mounts, but the fabric of the awning and the internal poles and such heave up and down and probably stress the bracket) .

I don't know if the ARB ones would work for you but they are a pretty good deal at $15 each; damn well made for that price.

Once I get the awning in I’ll take some measurements and decide which of these will work best.

Ended up buying some mounts.

LFD mounts worked to locate the awning exactly where I wanted it. Unfortunately as you @MeefZah warned they do sag just a bit… I may weld in some angle iron and some small gussets.

I’ll update this thread if I get around to that
