Maybe some WD-40 would get it loosened up? :notsure:

Wow, glad you got out ok! Where along the trail was this? I was up in the UP a couple of weeks ago and didnt even think to check any of this trail out.

How much of this trail seem like it is travelled (vs abandoned)?

Ive hit a few trails this summer that looked great on paper, but when you get there it’s completely grown over, green or black water in mud pits, or mudpits as far as the eye can see. Did it seem the 7hour was like that?

This was just south of the border. Basically the first section where you’d even bother to engage 4WD. On the maps, it’s listed as being a snowmobile trail.

The water in the mud pits was green, and the fact that the downed tree was there suggested that it probably wasn’t a heavily travelled section.

Found campfire remnants right before the off-roading begins, so people get close - GPS coordinates are 46.05132, -88.9192.

If they end up posting any footage of a gray 4Runner, that’ll be me. Mine got dubbed “the little 4Runner that could”. Definitely wasn’t shy about getting spotters for some obstacles.

Need to get a new rear valence for the rear bumper (the silver piece) as I managed to break half the clips. The other bits to the front and rear bumper that got gouged are either not noticeable or will be covered up by future upgrades.

Running boards are shot - thank goodness my sliders should ship next week.

And that was from the “green” level trails.

Quarry Meadows is noticeably tougher than Tigerton.

That's pretty impressive! Did you do any of the level 5 or 6 stuff at Tigerton?

I think some of the regulars on Tacomaworld were talking about going there sometime.

You will be heckled appropriately if you show up in a Chevy.:boink:

Also, Racine isn't bad. We do Biergarten meet ups in Kenosha and mall crawler shows in Chicago sometimes. Actually , there's a show at a Toyota dealership in Illinois a week or two after this one.

Looks like there is a 4x4 event at Byron Motorsports Park October 14th & 15th. Anybody ever go? Probably could get some mad air on the motocross track part of the park.

Never been there. Generally, parks don't do anything for me. Tigerton ended up being a lot more fun than expected, though.

You better have some damn good shocks if you're trying to get mad air in one of these bricks!

Some of us are going to the mall crawler show in Racine that Sunday. As much fun as another weekend of off-roading sounds, I can't afford to break anymore stuff this year.

I hear you on that - and there’s no way I’m going for mad air.

Still debating the mall crawl, as I’d get to show off my bumper gouges. :itllbuffout:

I think a few of the regulars from here and Tacomaworld will probably show up. It's a good way to meet the gang without having to drive way up north. We'll probably meet at a park and ride beforehand.

Greetings fellow Badger State members from the Eau Claire vicinity. Two weeks ago I picked up a new 40th anniversary model, have a 105k mi 08 4R I bought in 2010, and my wife daily drives a 2019 Limited 4R. My off-roading essentially ground to a halt a few years ago when we moved here from New Mexico but I do get a lot more time plowing through snow :) I'm also a aficionado of 1972 GM 4wd trucks and moderate a forum for 69-72 Blazers/Jimmys. My favorite cheese is any 10 year cheddar and Nueske's is my go to bacon.

Hey now, that's not the current conditions of Lake Chetek.
We've been living at the south-west end of the Chetek chain of lakes (Frankenburg Slough if that means anything) for about 2 years now.
    Nice pics from last? winter.

Dangit, I thought I had alerts on this thread. Failed to keep up on it. That’s not to say I would have gone to Quarry meadows…I had heard that place is “a little scratchy and/or crunchy” and you just verified that my recollection was correct lol.

You’re still running stock height, correct? I really noticed the world opened up to me since the lift and 285s. Approach and departure angles made it so I could get through the level 6 stuff at tigerton without hanging anything up (that is, if I choose to not be stupid).

So is the level 6 stuff at quarry meadows a crunchier level 6 than tigerton? They are supposed to be kind of a standardized measure right? If you would have told me you were going on level 6 stuff, I might have confidently gone with you…and probably come home crying lol. I’m still nursing the sting from my most recent “victory pinstripes” :D :( :D

    I'm at stock height.

I have no idea what the trail ratings were, but they ran us in groups...green, blue, and then some other colors that got more and more aggressive. I literally went with the easiest group, and was not the first nor only person to get trail damage.

    The place is no joke.

Now, there was some stuff that I ironically had an easier time with than some of the lifted Rubicons, but I was the only person that didn't get a fun articulation photo on a big-ass rock.

I'm getting my rear valance replaced this week. I just don't have the time or patience to do the work myself at the moment, even though it looks like it's not that hard. Rear bumper is too far in the future to have bodywork hanging half off for the foreseeable future.

Down on Ten Mile here! Had to look up Frankenburg Slough. One of the outdoor forums said it was on Prairie. Haven’t spent much time up that end, but it’s gorgeous!

Two winters ago heading back from Christie Mountain if I'm not mistaken. There was an ice fishing contest that day. Can't be too long now before the snow begins for the year. Watch out for deer y'all.
