I think I agree. Luckily it's easy enough to find a part number. I can walk in and just order that, no BS. I just want this part number please.

The drivers is longer. The swap took me about 2 min. Very happy.

I tried and failed to get inserts at the nearest dealership. They would sell whole blades, but they said there aren't enough vehicles around that use those part numbers for them to stock inserts. I mentioned this thread to them, to which they said that because local demand is so low, they would be forced to do the same thing (sell in boxes of 10). To their credit, they wouldn't have suggested that I purchase that quantity, they were just answering my question.

So they wouldn't even order the part for you at all either huh? Lol not enough 5th Gen 4Runners? Lol, so dumb. Well this the first time I've seen Toyota unwilling to sell a legit part number. One that even states it's individual blades, not packs of 10. I can maybe see a small town dealer, but in DFW where there are 15 4 Runners around every corner. Just stock them and use them in your maintenance center for people who bring theirs in for maintenance. They'd probably sell a bunch more if they advertised the $9 price w/ oil changes. Anywho... I'm done w/ wipers. :D

They would have ordered me a box of 10 of each type if I so desired, because that's what comes to them from the distributor. Although there are Tacomas and Highlanders and RAV4s all over the place here, 4Rs are rare, so I doubt they would ever sell the rest of those boxes. I'm about to start a cross-country road trip, so I'll stop here and there along the way to see what's different. I have highest hopes for TX, NM, UT, and CO.

As an experiment on my road trip, I stopped at dealerships in NJ, PA, TX, NM, CO, UT, IA and tried to buy inserts. No luck anywhere. I just put in an order with BAM.

I got singles from Toyota Parts online and made in Japan. Japanese wiper blades with new inserts to. Shipping probably as much as 3 wiper blades now but they are the best. I got parts from Lakeland Toyota online and they did exactly what they said and called me about a part. I like people of their word if they give.

From the online parts catalog lol…

The Wiper Insert Rubber (#85214-06140), a significant electrical component within Toyota's Windshield Wiper system, plays a vital role in optimizing your vehicle's performance. This component is responsible for making direct contact with the windshield, clearing it of debris and water for improved visibility. Inside the system, the Wiper Insert Rubber (#85214-06140) works in conjunction with the wiper blade to remove obstructions from the windshield.

That's odd about Utah. I've been able to buy the single inserts from Larry Miller Toyota and Karl Malone Toyota without any issues in the past. I always buy a spare set when I go in for oil filters and air filters.

I live in CO and have no issues getting inserts at the dealer, Mountain States Toyota and Stevinson West. Been doing it for over 4 years now.

I'm in Colorado as well. '97 4runner. Do you go in and get them? Order online? I'm not sure I'm understand the word inserts. Is it the same as the blade? Thanks.

So you don’t have to buy 10 at a time for three times that cost only to have them age out and turn to trash before you use them?

As noted above, you can get individual refills online. I ended getting mine from BAM.

I just go in but I drive by my dealer every day so it’s easy to swing in. You can also order online for pickup or call and have them ready for pickup as well. The insert is just the silicone/rubber part of the wiper. They just slide out and you slide the new ones in.

I did but the ones for a 97 might be discontinued. I had a 18 and now a 24 so I haven’t had an issue getting them.
