I think there is a big difference between something like "upstate New York " and "1616 Bonny Meadow Road."

Having a general idea where someone lives and uses their vehicle can be helpful in assessing their comments, or understanding their questions.
For example, on the Tacoma World forum, there is a long thread discussing the need (or not) to let vehicles warm up a bit before driving. Posters from Atlanta and Fort McMurray can disagree, yet both be "right."

 

If Chicago were removed from the state and we elected a new governor I think our likability would increase substantially.
