I was looking at Jeep forums, and didn't really see anything negative about it. Maybe it's just paranoia from old guys who are scared of turbos, like we have here. :notsure:

I rented a two-door JKR in Moab a few years ago, and other than driving it on the trail, I hated it. For a trail toy fine, for a vehicle that you actually use as a DD, no thanks. With the prices of these things, I want it to be good at more than one activity.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the popularity or the four-door, they probably wouldn't make the two-door either.

But we're all entitled to our own opinion. I also think the 392 is awesome, I would love to have one. It's all about fun. Nobody really needs a Supra, a 911, or a Lambo either, but people like them because they're cool and fun and make good noises.

The Tacoma forums are getting very lively with discussion on the turbo four for the next model year.

Pretty good reading from peeps trying to push an agenda about old wives tales.

For some reason a Porsche Panamera seems to work.

If I was looking for a pickup truck, Gladiator would be number one on the list.

I can't remember if it was Hammond or Clarkson, but one of the top gear guys said the best part of driving the Panamera was that you didn't have to look at it.

But, the 4-door probably sucks just as much, aside from being a little bit bigger. Personally, I'd say that if they quit making the 2-door, they might as well quit making them altogether. I'm sure the 4-door sells more, though.

According to an article from August that I found, the take rate on the two-door is 10 to 15%.

Maybe I'm just used to 4-door vehicles after 2 decades of driving two doors, but I found the two-door inconvenient. I put some stuff in the back seat, and the driver's seat didn't even slide forward, so I had to walk around the side of the vehicle to the passenger side. Then I took the roof panels off, but ended up putting them on 5 minutes later because they were rattling around so much as I didn't really have a space to place them securely. I just had them standing up in the back seat where they were clanking around. I'm sure in the four door they would have laid down flat in the cargo area.

Also, I just think overall the longer wheelbase is better, and I think unless it's fully naked, the two-door JK and JL is a little awkward looking.

Just my .02. Luckily they continue to make both.

I'll say though, if they made a modern version of the LJ, I would probably be all over that because that would look fantastic.

Edit: and you can't sleep in a two-door.

I remember talking to a guy at a car show once who was convinced that turbos actually routed some of the exhaust into the intake manifold.

Yeah, I totally disagree about the looks. The 2-door looks way better. This article agrees:

There have been lots of Mopars that I considered heretic, but at the end of the day, still had to love them under the familiar umbrella, right?

They say Jeep on them, they're manufactured in the US by Jeep's parent company, and they have solid front and rear axles. That's Jeep enough for me.

My 97 Grand Cherokee was also a Jeep.

Gotta say it has to be love / hate as one of my first cars was a 1976 CJ with a very stubborn 304.. Didn't hate it but back in the day at the time, one could say I didn't entirely respect it at my age or time in my life. Moved on to 1981 Datsun pickup before settling into a 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass.

I don't believe we will see any more Tacos with 1 million miles, or even half of that. There is no alternative for displacement.
This is how I look at things, 30 years ago we burned more gas and less cars. Today we burn less gas but more cars. What else is changing in the new Tacoma, more plastic, more aluminum?

Every thing comes full circle, there is no replacement for displacement. At some point we have to find a happy medium, compared to results over the decades.
At some point you have to push on current tech, right?

We need big hydrogen guzzlers, that's all we need. Stick a fuel agnostic 6.7 L Cummins in my old Ram and I am good.
