Yeah, I had the thought that undoing a lift isn't that bad. I think if I were to build one I would do 4" with either 33s or 35s.

It's funny, it's actually the 454 that I'm questioning. Do I really need 8 mi to the gallon? I feel like a TBI 350 would be perfectly adequate. Then again, it's not going to be a daily driver.

I'm not necessarily looking for one with perfect paint, and I probably wouldn't spend the money on a paint job for one. I kind of dig patina, and the nice thing about that is you really don't have to care about it too much.

The 454 is light blue with pretty faded paint and some patina, but the body looks extremely solid. I'm just uncertain if this is something I need to spend 13k on. I'm like I want it, but do I NEED it?

Yes! I was just looking at BAT the other day, I missed some really good deals over the past couple months. I'll have to set some alerts on that I think.

I'm kind of unsure about the wisdom of spending money on a want and not a need, but on the other hand the value of these is probably not going down, it's probably a safer bet than keeping money in a savings account at this point.

I haven't driven a square body burb in years. I think there's a couple of questions here. The first is how much are you planning on driving it. If it's under 25% of your driving, screw it. The next thing is, do you mind a slowboi? Standards for "how slow is acceptable" were different in the 80s. Remember Mercedes successfully sold the 240D at premium prices back then. That SBC is ultimately not an LS and you're talking about a lot of vehicle to lug around.

Yeah, definitely under 25% of my driving. I'd drive it around town on the weekends, hit cars & coffee events, maybe do some overlanding events and camping with it. I have a 60 mile commute to work, so I wouldn't use it for that very often, but I'd probably use it to haul my mountain bike to the trail occasionally. I'd probably try to tuck it away over the winter, since I'm in a road salt area. Like I said, it's definitely a want more than a need.

You're the second person who's told me to go with the 454, BTW. I was conversing with someone in another group about 6.2 diesels, and he said the 6.2 is great in a Blazer, but if one was to go Suburban, get one with a 454.
