    Question about a tire brand.

Discount Tire has these Rocky Mounty AT tires. I've never bought these before. Price is REALLY good for some ATs. Has anyone ever bought these? If you have, thoughts on them? Ratings on their website seem to suggest they are good tires.

I wish I could afford those pricier tires, but practicality (and limited tax refund) says otherwise.

Identified holes to run tap through and plugs to remove first, then removed plugs and cleaned threads on all frame nuts. Applied a coat of LPS 3 to mating surface of sliders, installed and torqued. Took 3 hours by myself not fooling around.E8C99E89-69F3-4D80-9D30-6B6D87E7407F.jpg

I don’t see how leaving the plugs will make much of a difference, The frame and mounting plates don’t fit perfectly together. I do think the RSG mounting plates surfaces are nice.
If I had to do it again, I would pay a little more attention to a few of the larger mounting holes in the plates and double up on the flat washers.
Edit: I used anti-seize on the bolts as RSG uses lock washers on top of flat washers. The sliders have a little adjustment and I tightened mine down as far up as possible.

Thanks, the 3.5 to. Floor Jack o used has a larger surface that rotates and made it super easy. Removing the OEM Predator steps only took a few minutes. For me, the most time consuming part was chasing the threads in the frame nut. I didn’t want to run into issue with not get the last bolt started and having to drop the slider.

Got to admit, our 5th gen is the most good looking SUV out there. I always turn around for that look :p
Toyota could just keep putting out these for another decade and they will sell 100k to 150k a year. But it won't happen. EPA, you suck!

Stock on Mickey Thompson Baja Boss, XL load, 265/70/17
New tires: Mickey Thompson Baja Boss XL load in 265/70/17. Had four sets of Duratracs on previous 4Runner and Jeep. Trying something different. Reviews were positive in terms of balancing. That is the main reason I went with them. So far so good.

Found a nail in the shoulder of one of the stock Duelers. Gave me the excuse I wanted.

I’ve had a nail and a broken windshield before 10k mi. Whadaya gonna do?

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
I agree. I guess that's why it has changed so little in all this time. When I bought mine a co-worker said "It looks like a pissed off bug!" LOL!

I took all the plugs out when I installed my Greenlane sliders, but popped a couple back in that were not covered by the mounting plate.

Chasing the threads is the most important thing to do though. My frame has a thick coat of FF on it, so hopefully it helps protect against corrosion where the sliders mount.

I attempted to install my TRD skid plate, but the back two bolts did not go in all the way. A couple of YouTube videos suggest using a tap, but one mentioned a 8mm and another a 10mm. I have a 2020 ORP. Any guidance on which I should purchase?

Finished up installing a urd mid pipe (i got it on sale a few months back). It was a totally pain in the ass to install due to the studs that come off the headers/exhaust manifolds. The y pipe removes the rear two catalytic converters which could be an issue for your state laws. I already had the trd exhaust now the is sound deeper and rumbles more. I love it. Also seems to improve power in the mid range rpms(2000-4000rpm).

Taps will work great. I would recommend considering a thread chaser as an option. You can buy a set relatively cheap and they work great for the intended purpose, which is not to cut new threads but to clean up old ones. Using a chaser should lessen the chance of creating larger thread tolerances.

Dealt with one of the few 4R flaws, that annoying rear hatch garnish rust.
Two 21x1.5mm neoprene washers on the side bolts gives enough stand off.
Broke the top center clip of the garnish, which I just cannot see how one would avoid....it's in there tight. Some silicone glue on the broken tabs...good to go.
Both sides had wear to the metal.
A little light sanding stick, some Dr Color chip layers and then a bit of ceramic coat should stop the rust in its tracks.
Not a perfect repair, but it looks just fine since it is a tool and not a show car.

Pretty much what the bodyshop did to fix the same issue I had on mine after they fixed the paint, no issues since. If you have a hood scoop check around the edges of it too. The scoop was rubbing the paint off there.

It is the cheapest mod. And don't worry about your gas mileage, it will not affect it at all. Go for it.

Installation following Diode Dynamics' video was fairly straightforward. Only hiccup on my 14 year-old vehicle was the rusted screw holding each OEM fog light in the bumper cover. I could feel the philips screwdriver starting to strip, so I finished the job with a Vessel JIS bit. The JIS bit gave a very noticeable improvement in grip.

Just looked and I have rust at both ends and on the door sill protector. Would it be covered under my CPO warranty or should I just do it myself?
