What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

it looks like the wind fairing does not rest on the roof. Can you confirm that?

Drove the SR5 to the dealer......got a free fob/key with the purchase......dealer cut the key and programmed the fob....all works great! Took them bout an hour and $173 but now have 2 fobs/keys.

At least you got 7 months. I think I had 1 day. Parked in the empty corner of a parking lot, was in the store for 10 minutes. Came out to a scuff on one of my doors.

Damn dealerships!! I got 2 when i bought my 2022.

 

From the reading I've done looks like the key fob debacle was for 4Runners manufactured I believe November-December 2022. That's my take but might be wrong! Possible other models of Toyota were included in this timeframe!

 

Mine came W/2 every new vehicle I've bought since 1985 always came W/2 keys or robs. My wife's BMW came W/2

 

When I called the dealer to set up programming for the fob and cutting the key he said he'd try and get the 2nd fob/key covered under warranty....nope! When he submitted it they declined. Bastages!

 

yeah got my vehicle April 2023 with two keys.

 

The side rails do not but the deflector does.
Installed a strip of 3m tape under the lip and I'll check it a few times a year.
The rack is solid no motion and the front foot design locks into the rain gutter, so there is not rattle or bounce. I expect no wear on the tape over time.
It is a very well designed mounting system.

 

My 4Runner came with 2 key/fobs and a valet key. My Tacoma also came with 2 keys/fobs and a valet key despite not having anything inside that locked up

 

I suppose some people do, but it's an easy job to do yourself. It takes longer to find the zerks than it does to pump the grease. If you decide to try it, I recommend a firmly latching connector like this:

The last time I went to my local dealership, I asked the cashier girl to lube my shaft. She did not respond the way I had hoped she would.

 

My '23 4R Limited, my daughter's '23 4R TRD ORP, and my wife's '23 RAV4 all came with 2 key fobs...however, I seem to remember reading from a year or two ago that some vehicles were only getting one key fob, because of "supply chain issues"...

 

there was a time that Toyota would give only 1 fob when purchasing the car but the 2nd fob was included in the purchase as well (it would just be delivered months later because of microchips shortage). So the dealership shouldn’t have to charge you for it. It’s not a warranty claim because it’s not a defect on the key fob, it was just never given to you. You should contact Toyota corporate and tell them you want your 2nd key fob and/or a refund from the dealership for what they charged you

 

Took me about a week to do but I finally finished my roof rack. Built it myself. Figured it would be a good first welding project. If I had to do it again I would just make regular 90s bending was a lot of extra work and math.

 

My 2000 Limited came with 2 keys and a (grey) valet key. My 2021 came with two fobs

 

The best (personal) projects always takes longer than we wish/plan for but always comes out great. Love the design you came up with…looks lightweight too.

 

My 2023 Prius Prime only came with one key due to parts shortages. 6 months later and I get the notice in the mail that my 2nd key is available and ready to be programmed at the dealer for no charge.

 

How do they feel being that they just cover the middle of the seat? I heard some people say that it feels weird.
