I'm hearing some rumbling noise from under the truck when I reverse, could it be one of the many stupid skid plates?

After a year of buyer's remorse of not having a volume button, I broke down and installed the Kenwood DMX1057XR stereo. It is head and shoulders above the Alpine ILX-507 in sound quality! Highly recommend.

*UPDATE to my stoopid clip problem and a mod installation

I've learned to hate them as well!

I managed to pull six while partially destroying two (still reusable though) using a narrow bladed cutting dyke. Was able to get the jaws between the 'top hat' and plastic trim and got lucky enough to have the jaws on those two prongs on the diagonal to the square section and pinched them just enough to be able to lever the clips out.

Also, after spending maybe close to a good couple of hours on the Toyota Parts website I found the actual name of these stooped clips, they are called "Screw Grommet" p/n 90189-06013.

    Grommet_Screw_90189096913.jpg

So, here's a hint as how these should be used based upon the actual physical design and name...they shouldn't be used as a retainer themselves but pressed into place first, plastic panel over and a flanged screw driven into the grommet, just like how a wall hanger works! I'm going to the hardware store tomorrow to pick up some M5 sheet metal screws in SS and some flat fender washers and give this thought a try...pretty sure it will work and no more clip struggles when I get around to doing a bumper mod in the future.

For now I got my first (of three) immediate mod done. Washer Fluid relocation tank kit by Snowbound Customs. I should start a build thread...

[Edit: moved the contents of the fluid tank install to my build thread, here.]

Great! Boy am I glad to know that I am not the only one who is crazy! Cameras very often flatten the image and do not show the perspective over the longer distance. Awesome ride!

You haven't rerouted the crossover pipe yet? That was one of my first mods. It would enable you to tuck the T-case skid plate higher.

thanks...that settles it. I have Bilsteens to install, and picked up CF spacers in case.
Was originally going to go with .85 up front only, with stock size Nittos.
The stock size is not lost with the 2 inch lift...so 1.75 clip up front and the CF spacers in the rear it will be.

I'm an low voltage electrician in the audio visual field, so lucky for me the wiring is not difficult.
I'm just beginning to run the wires from the engine bay relays to the rack. Once on the rack it's easy with UV rated tie straps. Going up the windshield is a breeze with dual side KC Wire Hiders w/ 3M!

The factory tank in my T4R is huge! Pretty much swallows up an entire gallon of premix. This relocation tank is smaller at 2.75 quarts yet thats still plenty of capacity.

As far as the vents go, I hope that I don't notice a difference. I was worried about that as well, but there are abundant reviews saying there are no issues with airflow.

Yes, I really like it so far. The screen is vivid and very responsive. Sound is superior. I have it paired with the Kicker speaker bundle, a Kenwood amplifier and a Kicker down firing subwoofer in the cargo area. I'm sure that an audiophile would pick it apart, but for me it is by far the most powerful and clear audio experience I've ever had in one of my personal vehicles.

The only negative is fingerprints! I'm going to have to keep some screen cleaners in the 4Runner!

The only issue is when I am pulling a very heavy trailer, the sag in the rear it creates prevents the flow of gas from the auxiliary tank into the main tank. Air bags are the fix for those rare times but I have not bothered because I rarely pull a heavy trailer. I found this out when I moved from Phoenix to Colorado. :) Other than that I absolutely love the tank.

Wasn’t really planning on doing any lift or level kit until I walked out to my car in a flat parking lot and noticed the extreme (To me) rake. I went with a 6112 - 5160 set up (4 & 2 6112 setting). Shocks Surplus and several YouTube videos helped me complete the front back in 4 hours.

    pre lift:
    34-7/8” 34-7/8”
    37-1/4” 37-1/4”

Why do people block out license plates in pics? You drive around W/them fully exposed. You worried bout someone seeing it on line yet people all around you live see them.:notsure:
