    Not my pic, something I saw on another group. Wish me luck and to all who have moonroofs not to face this;

    What caused that incident??
I HATE SUN roofs, Not a fan of baking, on the other hand my loves it, Go figure. The Sunroof comes std on TRD PRO so at least I have the cover to make it work!! Had 1 on my Black (only Black car ever owned & never gain too) 93 Mustang GT & NO cover that sucked other wise that car was an awesome buy off show room floor!

The blue one has some cool decal, is it from Yellowbee? Honestly I think the 5th gen has some potential for good retro side decals, just no one care to dig in

Installed D/S grab Handle Kit. I, I screwed up the "Jack Nut" install !! :annoyed::facepalm::frustrated: I tried to use Smooth on Metal Set "A4" which is an FAA approved consumable for installing threaded inserts for anchor points, didn't stop Jack nut from spinning. But the top Bolt seems to hold the handle enough that when I grab it the lower does not flex. When it get's warmer hear in E. Pa. I will remove A4 & install a 10-32 " https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbil...nAUCEAQYAiABEgI8iPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#overlay& & bolt which is larger then I believe the 8-32 or metric provided W/ kit. This is in NO WAY a diss on the kit provided, I did NOT Properly "Set " the "Jack Nut" as I have never used this type of anchor nut before. I recommend the kit %100 if you want the look & usefulness of it.

I love this truck guys, it's very comfortable. No problems on these long road trips and the thing also kicks ass on the trail. Money well spent.
And the thing feels so solid, how do these Japanese screw things together?

I’d love to see you make a dedicated thread on this one when you’ve installed and get some impressions! This to me looks like a great solution. Also I’d like to see how you make the cuts in the bumper cover.

Ahhhh, I can sense the love. It’s the honeymoon phase. I bought mine in Feb of 21 and I’m still in that phase myself. I’m not sure when it will pass.

It’s been such a perfect mix of things for me. I even look forward to commuting and just stupid little drives to nowhere in it because it feels good on the road, especially rolling back roads. I liked it stock, I liked it after I changed the suspension, after going to 285/70s and after adding armor weight. It just seems immune to feeling like a shitty vehicle. I still can’t put my finger on exactly what the magic sauce is. Probably the combination of everything it does and how it feels.

I’m usually pretty critical of mechanical unreliability in cars. So when my transfer case failed at 50k miles, my usual self would have blamed the vehicle and looked to dump it in a trade. But nope…instead I blamed the stupid bad bad transfer case, pulled it off my 4runner with my bare hands, and told my 4runner that the bad transfer case would never hurt it again. 300 bucks later with a salvage transfer case that had the same mileage, and she’s good as new.

I never have, would have, or could have done that with any other vehicle I’ve owned. Ever. Just a little pep talk with a Tacoma wheeling buddy who does this kind of stuff for fun, and I swapped it in over the course of a few days. That’s another reason I like it…it’s relatively easy to work on, to the point I like doing the maintainance on it. Weird I know, but I’m not gonna be able to crawl around under it forever, so I’m having my fun now lol.

It’s quite the read Yota…. And still a mystery. The bad TC is still sitting on my bench in the garage. Maybe I’ll pull it apart some day to look for clues.

In the meantime, I’m not taking any chances with the oil, and when I shift on the fly, into or out of 4wd, I always wait an extra second after lifting the throttle before I shift. I’ll even shift in neutral if the opportunity presents itself.

Today it was raining, and I said heck let's try the shift on the flight thing. I was doing 40 mph and shifted into 4Hi. I shifted in neutral though to get into and out of 4Hi.

FYI, I yet to read about a failure like mine, so I probably wouldn't sweat it if I were you. Edit: just make sure you shift it like the manual dictates! The slower the better I say, and never on the throttle.

Being in neutral for half a second is not a big deal imo. I will play it safe.

I shift on the fly all the time to exercise per the manual - for mine, I just make sure I'm under 50 mph (I think that's what the manual says for mine). I also take the foot off the throttle while shifting, then put slight pressure on until I see it engage.

I tried once shifting into 4wd while going up a hill, under the recommended speed, but it wouldn't lock (per the light) until I took my foot off the throttle. I think it won't engage under load (while applying throttle). Didn't see anything about that in the manual but it's been a few years since I read it - just personal experience.

Also why I engage 4wd high and/or low before I think I need it just to make sure it works before I need it

I wish A-Trac worked in 4Hi and high speed, like Jeep's BLD. That would be great in snow and ice.

Wow….strange. Wonder if he had it vented and something from the highway flung up and hit it?

I love moonroofs, mines open as much as the weather allows. I know many from other manufacturers can have problems (like those stupid VW ones that were half the roof and would rattle like crazy).

But on a Toyota, besides flushing out the drains once in a while, it shouldn’t be too much maintenance to keep them trouble free. The moonroof on my ‘01 3rd gen still works perfectly.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
I have heard a few stories about this happening on 4Runners, Tacomas, and other various vehicles. They all claim "It just happened", nothing hit it and they weren't doing anything. It was closed and BAM. It happened.

I think my last 7 cars have had sunroofs and I have zero issues (Leaks or breaks), and I hope I never do! I bet it's a rare event, but when it does happen it traumatizes a lot of people from getting a sunroof ever again.

Wow, that is horrible! That's like 280-ish in American miles!

This luggage rack / basket on top of your pro. Would love to add that look to my SR5P. Any suggestions on where to purchase.

Looks like the OEM pro rack .. I see them on offerup or fb marketplace all of the time for around 350-500.

Should fit well on the SR5P or would that be a disaster ?

It will fit all 5th gen variants to my knowledge but I'd first research what you want to use it for as a lot of people deem that rack as pretty useless and getting a rack from Sherpa, Westcott or Gobi to be way more useful. But it really comes down to what you want to use if for and what you want to spend.

They usually pop up for sale. I removed mine from 20 AG pro and sold it when I had it. This time I’m leaving it in for now. The wife thinks it looks better.

As I understood from when I bought my 2018 TRD OR Toyota wouldn't sell to you IF you didn't have a Pro vin. I think they're a bit larger then the FJ's. I really liked them on my 2 previous FJ's. I wanted 1 for my old TRD OR, So I bought a Pro to get one :D:bananadance::dancingbacon::devil:
