I swapped all the interior bulbs to less. Amazon special, nothing fancy. Still makes a huge difference

Jumped on the light sensor bandwagon. Turned out exactly how I hoped. With the headlights on, the sensor adjusts the lighting of the stereo screen according to the ambient light. e.g. If it's daytime, raining and I have my headlights on, usually the stereo screen will switch to dark mode and is hard to see. With the sensor installed, the screen says in normal/ daytime mode.

Purchased sensor from ebay. Showed up in about a week: https://www.ebay.com/itm/125602714691

Added the 4RunnerLifestyle center console cover. Fairly straight forward install.

Those are two 2.5 gals each. Haven't tested them yet, will report back. I made a custom rack out of aluminum angles and mounted that on the crossbars.

I am thinking of mounting 10 gallons on the roof.

I'd do 4 2.5 gals, they would sit at half the height, more stable and parking garage compatible. Also if you had a weird leak or something that would at least affect only one can.

Guess I'll be cleaning up after someone else...

Took the 4Runner in to get its 10,000 mile service done. I did the 5,000 mile oil change and figured I'd have the dealer do this one since it's free. I removed my front skid plate to make it easier for them. Went to put it back on tonight and noticed oil around the bottom and top edge of the filter canister. It's not leaking (at least I don't think it is), but just poor attention to detail by not cleaning up their work... although I can't quite figure out how they got oil on the bottom of the canister unless they set it in a puddle of oil.

What about strapping one on each of the roof?

every time i see a 5000k led i get buyers remorse. such a choice color temp.

i didn’t want anything too bright so i went with VLED 400LM 36 LED 921 which only came in 5500k. this led me to VLED 5500k the rest of the truck.

I am never letting the dealer touch my 4Runner. I did the first oil change and one of the skid bolts was already cross-threaded!

oh yeah, 5 gals wont get me far either but I did not want to put too much weight on the roof, Toyota recommends 120lbs max.

There are gas tanks that mount on the spare tire area.

You mean a strap that goes around the tire and you mount the cans to it?

I've considered buying a set of spares skid bolts for that highly probable day.

It's almost the easiest thing to do with it. They don't want to set it anywhere that isn't already oily.

Yup. After hearing all the stripped bolt stories, that's why I did the first oil change. Also why I was so careful about installing the aftermarket skids with the new bolts. That's also why there was no way I was going to leave the skid on even though it has a cut out for the drain plug and access cover for the filter canister.

Wonder if I should review the dash cam footage. Probably just see the hood blocking the view. I don't have sound activated so I won't hear anything.

I am thinking of getting stainless ones. M8x25mm is the size.

external fuel probably wont be that safe anywhere. On the roof rack it’s also exposed to overhead branches, tree trunks, rock overhangs etc. Then you get a wet head. And a roof rack that ends up taking damage.

If it’s on the roof rack during daily driving, it’s one oversight at wrong parking garage or drive thru, and stuff is getting torn off.

Unbranded 35L fridge/freezer fits nicely. I'll figure out a solar panel once the rack arrives, if I don't die of old age first.
