What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Yesterday and today... installed a Viofo A139 Pro 2ch front and rear dash cam. Some pics:

 

Got some Baja Designs, Squadron Pro, ditch lights installed today with the Cali Raised brackets. Very happy with them and the install was super easy.

What route did you go for wiring and switching?

 

I have to take back my earlier statement about the grab handles - as I was looking for the seat back covers I bought off Amazon to give a link to another member, seems the headrest grab handles were from Amazon as well. They are available from 4runnerlifestyle - can't remember cost difference. Couldn't find the hatch strap on Amazon though and I know for sure it came from 4runnerlifestyle.

No pics yet, but threw on the rear 5100’s this morn… took about 45min. We’ll see how the fronts look before I lift rear. Will do this either tomorrow or Tues. Ordered some replica TRD Bronze in 17 x 8.5 0os. Lot of moving parts this week

 

Came with a wiring harness and I just ran them to my Garmin Power Switch so I can use either Apple car play on the dash or my phone to turn them on.

 

I got a pretty decent 15% off by buying them yesterday at a "Rig and Coffee" event at Spirit of 1876 in Castle Rock, CO yesterday and I already had the Cali Raised brackets sitting here ready to go. Got to check out some nice rigs and grab the lights for $60 off so not too bad.

 

Are you saying them kids with their fancy Apple Watches can theoretically turn on ditch lights?

 

I was going to do this mod, then I remembered: I'm very tall, and can easily reach the grab handles on both sides of the tailgate to close it.

LOL, never thought to use my watch!

 

So far, used a couple nap times periods, and couple late evenings while kiddos & mom sleep.
I looked ahead at the rest of the frame n such, god there's a lot left..
No way I'm paying a shop tho

 

Every time i think about doing a frame, i go right to body off. My hat is off to you. Something that may help with the hardware and such... Loctite 633877 Extend rust neutralizer.

Drove down to Yakima to visit a friend on "The Rez", eat frybread and then to the Columbia the next day fishing for Chinook (Last day of season).

Added bonus: Saw an elk drinking from the Columbia on the south bank at Verita Bridge=be just north of Hanford.

 

That Amazon LED kit showed up and I swapped the tailgate bulbs, it's brighter for sure but the light is awfully cold and harsh. It also highlights the shadows created by the lack of a rear dome.

Going to find some amber LEDs instead (mosquitoes are a local plague) and come up with another utility light solution.

 

Sold it. I put myself on the list for a new Land Cruiser, which I realize won't be out for a while yet, but put the word out to friends that if anyone wanted my 4Runner they should speak up. Neighbors were in need of a reliable SUV and gave me my price. So, I'll be tossing around our stick shifted Honda Civic for the next year or so til the Land Cruiser makes it's way to me.

 

Just added matching window tint today. New tires soon. Mickeythompson Baja.

 

Something small over the weekend: changed out the door lights to these items found on Etsy by Operation MODOUT. Took maybe 10 mins to do all 4 doors.






And added some Halloween theme lights from Walmart (I know they look like Christmas lights.)

Installed weathertech low profile side window channel awnings.
Look great in smoke shading and very easy to install
Monsoon season in sofla is notorious so very useful upgrade
(you can talk to the dairy queen window chick without flooding your interior in a downpour)

 

It's vital that you don't soaked while picking up your Dilly Bar! Man I love those freak'n things.

 

Send that aux panel back. Been there done that. The Switch Pro is so much easier.
