What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Sure, that's why we're all here, sharing and helping each other. (After all, "we're all in this together"--a bit of comic relief of the past 3+ years) I too was a bit disappointed. Not with the compressor (I had an ARB double in a different vehicle and hands down this Morrflat, while louder, is a better and less expensive product) but it size. Finding this mounting plate freed up a lot of inside space which is very limited in my setup/use.

I too purchased the wiring kit but not really necessary as the original cable easily reaches the battery and simply just needs a fuse added. Currently continuing to just connect with battery clamps until able to find the time to connect the wiring kit. The final plan includes an external air chuck connection. like ARB, which also is not needed as the original connection is sufficient. Simply want to make it stealth where the hood does not have to open (for the 5 minutes it take) while airing up.

Is carrying one of these on the roof rack a bad idea? It will be tied flat lol

 

ive been avoiding leaving the air compressor under the hood because I read that they fail over time due to engine heat. Curious to see how yours hold up over time, mainly in the summer in AZ. i have their 2-tire hose kit and I love it!

 

The HF daytona 3ton jacks are great! But if I were buying again, I’d take a look at their off road jack…more expensive, but looks pretty sweet.

I did that change to my '21 Limited a little over a year ago.
22,000 miles later, and it's still my favorite upgrade.
It opened so many avenues of fun in the car.

 

Yeah, those are the leading contenders. I think I need to ditch the old one first to free up space, along with my old jack stands and chocks.

I wouldn't toss it, multiple jacks are super handy. A Unijack makes an excellent backup and spare stand.

My old 1.5 ton has been too short for my last three cars but I got by with wood blocks. Finally added some 911 Motorsports parts and gave it a cleanup+bleed rather than just buying a bigger one. Plenty of lift for half a 4r and half the weight of the Badlands.


I don't actually use both extensions at once...

 

Does it leak? Personally wouldn't trust plastic cap on the roof, but that's me.

 

The blackening continues with an AJT transfer case knob to match the radio and climate knobs. Also pictured: several matte black Chinese trim covers.

 

Well in anticipation for undercoating to be done. I pulled the front skids to my surprised the 2 front most bolts were snapped off and the PO never properly installed the plastic ducting properly. So anyways, I chased all the bolt holes, cleaned all the screws up with the die set. Then drilled out the 2 front most bolts (8x1.25) and (M6x1) that holds the ducting and repaired all that and installed new bolts. Covered bolts with copper anti seize of course.

Hate it when people break stuff off and then dont properly fix it.

Next is to re-install the rear tire back on now that vehicle has been undercoated but before I do that, I think I will replace the rear diff fluid as its so easy to access.

The covers for the trim? They’re all over Amazon.

 

Put mine in 4Low and used the mud/ sand select to do a you turn on the loose sand beach today. Just because I could. Lol. Probably could have done it in 4 high , but why not use what I got.

 

Who ever the person was at Toyota that thought an all gloss interior was a good idea, should get a double eye poke.

 

I changed the oil. 4 Lo is great for getting up onto the ramps. Before that, I shot a ramp out the back and across the driveway in 2 Hi. I used 4 Lo the last oil change, but I didn't think it was really necessary. Perhaps it wasn't, but it sure was helpful.

 

I just installed these as well and got an air bubble. Everyone said it was porous and would come out after a couple days. Still hasn't...

 

I also learned this trying 2hi on my ramps, they got squirrelly on me even though they have non slip feet. Switched to 4WD and it was a thing of beauty!

 

Google told me the Scepter 4WD Vented Cans seal virtually watertight and designed to also store layed flat. Google wouldn't lie! (no leaks yet)

Upgraded wheels with modded caps.

I finally bit the bullet and upgraded the wheels on my ‘15. Slowly but surely it’s been leveled, upgraded HU, and now my bronze wheels! Love them so much. Had to trim a small bit due to the dreaded reverse rub but very happy with them.

The center caps are from the 40th anniversary but I bought them separately on eBay. Bought the wheels on Amazon and had to deconstruct the 40th anniversary center caps, trim the tabs, and then super glue them into the center caps that came with the wheels. I was hoping they would just fit but the 40th anniversary ones were smaller than the wheel caps. Luckily they fit nicely inside after I modified them.

I’ve waited about a year to do this. Very happy with them. I blacked out the badges and now I just have to do the roof rails.

I've seen photos on the forums of people carrying (plastic) Rotopax gas cans on their sides on rooftop baskets. I've been pondering whether I could be comfortable doing that.

 

Got rid of the front end chrome, finally. Unnecessarily time consuming and expensive.

 

I hear ya, fair enough. I don't have mounts for jerry cans so roof basket is the spot. I mean I can't help but think metal cans would be noisy up there - not sure if tight tie down straps would kill it. I at least highly recommend the water jerry can tho. Never know when you'll need it, could get run off the road somehow, could be an earthquake. Don't wanna be like that guy who survived off just ketchup packets
