I'm noticing a lot of cars in my area getting roof racks. The funny thing is how they fit. Some are way to big and make the car look like a construction vehicle. Some are way to small and look like top hats. It's a bad trend.

Curious on how it is putting a spare on roof rack managing getting the weight over your head. Assuming it's a 2 man job with 1 person up on truck another on ground swinging it up to next guy.

I'd consider moving the spare farther back on rack. Doesn't look like has support at front and is using factory rails.

Speaking of slinging tires, I washed my 4R today after a 5000 mile road trip, checked fluids, and rotated the driver's side tires. I'll do the passenger side tomorrow and probably change the oil, too.

    Observations:
    1. OEM jack is probably fine for emergencies, but it's too slow and fiddly for rotating tires.
    2. 10-ply Wildpeaks weigh a ton and it's no fun trying to get them aligned with with the studs.
    3. 1/2" DeWalt impact wrench saved a lot of time and effort
    4. Taking the wheels off revealed a disappointing acreage of stuff (mostly suspension components) that didn't get washed well.

Out of curiosity, which bracket did you end up using to mount that assembly?

It is the M.O.R.E. bracket (mountain offroad enterprise). I had the same setup in my tacoma, and they have this bracket for the old style arb tank for half off right now for the 4runner .

I installed the Alpine ILX-F509 in my wife's 4Runner. Also finally replaced all of the lights with the ones I bought from @20204runnerguy - thanks again. They are great and the OEM LED fog lights are quite the upgrade from the originals.

In a troopy! Left hand drive too! He could have loose topsoil on the roof rack, wouldn’t make it any less awesome lol.

And now I serendipitously came across your post and saw this existed too...amazing. I love my Mofflate pump but was kind regretting not getting an ARB setup under the hood. Last time I was airing up I was looking around trying to see if there was a way to fit in that space and shelved it as a project I'd look into later. Now that I see this, I'll grab the the plate and wiring kit and call it done.

    Thanks for sharing. :bananadance:

Nothing serious but tested because my family keeps complaining about the TRD exhaust noise inside the car.
Atleast per non professional equipment, just using an app on a tablet its not too far apart, just 74db max at 2500rpm inside the 2019 Limited vs 78db at 2500rpm inside the newer 2021 TRD Pro. Yes one can argue that rubber seals on the 2019 would be older, else it would be much quieter? But that's what I have in hand to test :)

Added the cartrimhome steering wheel emblem cover and canvasback door covers for rear passenger doors. No more dog drool... Didn't want to stick any velcro to the panel so I ordered the "plastic tab" version. Works surprisingly well.

I'll get some pics of how it works, but essentially, they sew in plastic tabs and wrap the leading edge with the soft part of velcro. This adds some width to the tab and allows them to "snap" into the channel between the window seal and top edge of the door panel. Does not affect the operation of the window. Pretty slick way to do it.

4dB different = 2.5x as loud. To me that's far enough apart to matter, although not for everyone.

Nope, not joking, power doubles for every 3dB. It is hard to get truly comparable measurements, but a difference that big is more than just measurement error.

I finished rotating the tires and re-washed the undercarriage. I'm not rotating again without a floor lift or at least a hydraulic bottle jack. I wish my old floor lift were big enough for the 4R. I'll change the oil tomorrow.

Changed oil and rotated the tires. Can’t believe we have over 10k miles on this thing already.

I started hearing a humming noise while on the highway (not tires) and a slight shimmy at 50 MPH, hmm I thought Needle bearing. I ordered the ECGS bushing and axle seal had it replaced today sound went away I only hear the tires humming now, no shimmy and the steering feels a little more responsive but that just might be that all the parts are nice and tight again. The shop that did it for me said the bearing looked fine but they all look like that until they don’t. Glad I was proactive and did it, as I’m planning on some trips next year.

It's the most comfortable truck I've ever had, I'm at 3,000 miles already in less than a month. I can't get enough of this thing. It's a special truck, I'm absolutely loving it, especially when it is idling and makes sound like diesel lol.

Isn’t the richter scale like that too, where little number change is a huge leap in energy? I have a hard time wrapping my head around those measurements.

Yes, the Richter scale is also logarithmic.
