I got my rocket surgeon hat on and decided to read the 9-page installation guide for the door edge guards. When I ordered them, I have presumed that they were just a vinyl or plastic. Alas, they are precision, thermoplastically-coated, surgical stainless steel...

Three tips if you ever want to do this:

    1) Use card stock for the templates and an exacto knife to follow the door handle cut out precisely.

    2) Use an IPA (isopropyl alcohol) wipe down after using the Simple Green that they recommend.

    3) Heat the door edge guard with a hair dryer. While the main curve is somewhat emulated in its original form, it's still needs coaxing into position.

    Bonus tip:

    4) Throw your door open with little regard to what is nearby, you have weapons-grade steel door edge guards! F that Tesla that didn't park centered in their spot!

Swapped out the old style red/white tail lights that came with the 10-13 trucks to the newer 2014+ models.
Just the change in the tail lights makes a 12 year old truck current.

Your trucks looks damn good! I highly recommend the black OEM lugnuts! They make the black wheels look wayyyyy better! I believe they're less than $20 for 6. Total for me was about $54, with an online sale. They're shorter (not as long as the chrome factory ones) but fit fine!

Mine were dealer installed ( I had found the 4Runner I wanted & they had it) But why the card stock template?? The guards don't seem to come close to touching it??? Nice job though!!:cheers:

My problem W/mine is I have it set up the way I like the mods I did, BUT @ 63k mi. I will be looking to trade by 73k mi. How much trouble doing Anytime Fog/Driving lights mod. and other's W/all "safety " controls OEM installed?? I like my Eibach frt @ 0.85 for level & for the clearance on next size up Coopers I have. I most likely will go TRD Pro vs TRD ORP.(If It comes W/sunroof arrgh wife will love it) might as well get the whole thing eh?? Thinking of trading for 2024 before the "Big Change" new models 1st yr aren't usually a good thing, gotta work the bugs out & I ain't one for dealing W/that. I have NO issues W/4.0 V6 as some people do. It's an SUV & I get up to speed no problem on hiways acceleration. Had Mustang GT off show rm floor, yep did what it was supposed to as does this IMHO. Just ranting working from home now SO...... Flame away fellow 4Runner owners!:notsure::cheers:

Bilstein 5100’s on the way. Just looking to stop my nose-diving 2017. Will likely set to stock height, since my RWD is 100% road runner.

The little tab that reaches the edge on the template is where the guard starts. The template is for not only vertical placement along the edge but also the "pound points" on where to start malleting the DEG in.

    Nice mods slick ride! @OffRoadingNoob
Great suggestions here regarding lugs, keep in mind they're the fancy "Spline" type.

Personally, I bossed up to PRO COMP black spline lug kit including valve stems, very happy with 'em.

I had no fitment issues with C4 Fab. Worked wonderfully.

Very straight forward and easy to follow video. Pretty sure I was able to do it myself with no assistance.

The plates didn’t really line up to any existing holes on the sidewall. The kit came with screws that I assume you just drill into metal, but didn’t want to do that just yet. I saw another aftermarket mounting plate that requires you to move the smaller relay/fuse box further back, but I just wanted to give it a shot.

Do you think the door paint gets scratched when you install the guards?

The thermoplastic cover might scuff the clear, but it is not digging into the paint.

Toyota even has a removal tool and its instructions say to keep it straight for paint protection.

What exactly is the point of the template around the door handle?

Edit: never mind. I read your post more closely. It gives the edge guard starting point, and strike points.

Solid choice, I have them, but paired with Dobinsons springs.
May I suggest setting them at the second circlip setting from the bottom? It won't make it perfectly level, but it will reduce the rake and improve the aesthetics (imho).

I got my wheel balancing done from them. They are expensive but no wobble after getting it done, so I guess they did a good job.

Used my Stainless wand on license plate screws. I have extras too. I spent 45 mins looking for grease to put on my stainless threads to right the wrongs of the . . . steel, and ultimately just wiped engine oil on there

these are shorties, not running plate frames

I did that W/Eibachs. Like the almost level look. The only draw back was when I was pulling 19.5' boat On hiway frt felt floaty & when Tractor trailers would past definitely had to pay attention. No worries now as sold boat.! Not no where hear as bad pulling 5x10' utility trailer W/ATV on it way less wt.

Also went next size up Cooper Discoverers 37k on them so far seem to be good so far. I neglected rotating @ last 10k frts worn oddly. had them road forced re-bal full alignment now on rear should wear in. I'll probably tread before their due for R&R next spring.

    You On Here Bro?
The mod of mods! Just a testament to the durability of these dudes. 600lb springs front and rear, bilstein 5100’s set at 1.5” in the front. Love the tread track running boards. Driver said they are more for body protection than a step. He said the ride is the best in their fleet. My reply? “I bet it rides like its on rails.”
