What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

It doesn’t rain here often because California but still it’s just a pain to deal with. I may order door seals and use the 3M weatherstripping adhesive. I used it on the rear seal since it already had some from the factory.

 

@whippersnapper02 Out of curiosity how did you discover wet carpet? I have good floor mats coveting carpet not sure I would evenknow unless started to smell it.

 

i started to smell it during a hard rain and discovered wet carpet. I thought I had just tracked in water because my feed did get soaked so I immediately ordered Husky liners. Well the smell persisted and I pulled up the carpet and found soaked sound deadening. The first time I used a head gun to dry everything but purchased that blower from Costco in case I needed it and to blow air under a car while I was working. It worked better than a heat gun to dry everything out. At some point I’m going to have to park it and rip the interior and replace the deadening with my own but not until I find the leak.

I like that. I’ve never personally been a fan of putting stickers on the body or windows of my vehicles (even though it’s proven that every sticker adds 5 whp each) but I can definitely appreciate the way you did it.

 

Nice! I'm installing the same bumper and lightbar. What bracket did you go with for the ss30 lightbar?

 

Take the DD brackets, cut off the 90 degree and reverse them and weld them back on. I did this and it fit well. Hope this helps. A local welder can do it easily.

 

I pulled the trigger on the Rago Molle panels for the back windows. I watched the video on how to install Seems simple enough for a Jarhead can do it LoL. Has Anyone else purchased the Rago equipment?

 

How messy was this, doing at home?

 

I had this done professionally. But I would imagine if you do it at home on your back in the driveway it would be messy and hard to see and hit every area completely. I’ve done some spot touch ups and my spare tire, but that’s it. That being said, some guys here do it themselves with the right equipment like a wand to get inside the frame rails.

I will look up local installers for the NH undercoating. I don't want to do it myself if I can help it Mine is still 5 months old, so I have sometime.

 

Just a tip, remove your spare tire before your appointment and make sure the they hit your trailer hitch and wand inside the entire length of the frame rails. Some places won’t do it or are just lazy.

 

Can you explain where you tapped into the turn signal, maybe a schematic for the less electrical inclined folks? TIA

 

I reached out to someone on the forum just like you did and he had designed his own brackets with something like CAD on the pc then had a website make the brackets for him. I got lucky and he had a second set that I paid him for.

I have a growing sticker collection. I’m not a sticker guy, but lately I’m having trouble resisting lol.

 

Yeah, it’s messy. I used woolwax, but same idea. Use cardboard or a throw away tarp to cover up the ground. If you do it inside a garage, cover up any equipment if it matters. Use old clothes that you don't mind throwing away.

After a good first application, touch ups or doing spots you missed isn’t that big of a deal though.

I didn't take POR15 rust paint seriously when it said the shit is permanent once dry. Do not apply when wearing nothing but a pair of shorts lmao

I paid the Runner off it's currently my wife n kids daily, but one day it'll be a bush truck with steel bumpers n sliders etc. I'm a lil ahead of the game with the redneck stickers

 

I’m well on my way to making my 4runner into a bush truck. So maybe that’s why my unused stickers are starting to bother me. I’m going to need to take up hunting or get some land to round out the look lol.

Got my windows tinted yesterday, front sides and windshield. I did ceramic XPEL Prime XP. Came out well and can feel less heat toasting me while driving and feeling cooler already.

Next, bought digital tire pressure gauge (Jaco) and to release air. Used it twice. Works well and pretty fast. About a minute to get tire from 36 psi to 25 psi

Lastly, to fill said tires back up I bought Smittybilt air compressor. Works great and fast so far. Took a minute to get from 25 psi to 38 psi.

I have the Rago molle panels and the shelf. They're good. I'm curious what kind of hardware they're including these days. The shelf hardware was a little short. I got a bunch of my own hardware to fix that.
