Replaced my OEM All Weather floor mats with these “Yita Motors” ones. Only $74 shipped from eBay. Way better coverage and fitment is spot on.

The jacking point structure built into the 4Runner front skid interferes with the front edge of the Tacoma engine skid. The Tacoma has a jacking point welded to the front differential crossmember, so the Tacoma front skid is smaller.

New tires. Same as before: Goodyear Duratrac 265/70/17, P-rated. I got 38K mi. out of the last set. They still had a little bit of tread left on them, but wouldn't balance well (vibes). It's my 4th set. Had them on my Jeep before the 4Runner. Gas station pic, if you're wondering what the hoop reflection is.

arent stock size 265/70/17? Did you go with a smaller tire?

38k isnt alot out of a tire. My Falkens made it to 50-55k everytime

You all are right and I am wrong: 265/70/17. I have it wrong in my profile and that’s what I was looking at when I posted. Thanks for catching that.
Agreed: 38k mi is not that great, but I like the Duratracs in the rain.

When I had them in the Jeep they were ELoad and rode like a dump truck all the time, so you wouldn’t notice any balance issues!

Added some Chinese knock off rear molle mounts. Very similar to Rago Fabrication. Took maybe 45 mins to assemble and install. 20230419_150017.jpg

Wanted to add a note of saying that these are a little squirrely. And I say that because the arms that bolt to the top are reversed. The driver side has an "R" and the passenger has an "L." I think that is done intentionally for whatever reason. One of the reviews on Amazon stated this was probably done to avoid any copyright issues with Rago. But I like these and seem really sturdy.

Stupid question.... Are they installed backwards? The "R" and "L" on the top brackets are wigging my OCD out.

The goal of the catch is to catch the excess oil and filter it before it recirculates, to prevent the so called blow-by, which is the loss of compression and it prevents oil residue from reaching the crankcase. That is what I learned from other users. Like I had mentioned in my post, I have yet to see how it works. Many owners of various brands of cars and suvs recommend it. We will see. I am just an end user and rely on some other knowledgeable drives. So no, you dont need to feel like you have poor knowledge. Most likely mine is poorer than yours.

Please report when you check it. Love to see how much oil it has and how much dirt it has. Will definitely help someone like me who like to take extra care of mine too.

catch cans are good for special applications like forced induction or high compression builds where in you'd like to keep things like compressor wheels/rotors clean or blowby gasses out of sensitive AF tuned engines.

the factory pcv system is more than adequate to handle the harmless amounts of blowby which contains minute amounts of oil and fuel. you won't find anything else coming out of the crankcase of a mass produced consumer class engine. if anything else is passing through the pcv system or being caught in a catch can, you're already in trouble and signs of that trouble would have been apparent before any discovery is made in the pcv or catch can.

Thanks, but the little bit I know has mostly come from watching videos of a handful of subject matter experts on YouTube. A couple I'd highly recommend are The Car Care Nut (a lot of people on this forum follow him) and Toyota Maintenance (the German mechanic I referenced). The Car Car Nut did a whole series of videos on the 4Runner with topics like Brakes, Engine, Suspension and Transmission, and one called something like "How to Make Your Toyota Last to 300K Miles", which is where that long term maintenance stuff primarily came from.

Yeah, someone earlier told me that it will be good with a supercharger that I am going to install, so maybe that is what it will be good for in this case.

Is it going to hurt my engine while I have it on, before I do my supercharger?

nahh there's no harm in having a catch can in there.i probably should have mentioned that.

i just got on a soapbox to help those out there considering one and what they can expect if they do install one.
