Yeah, and they didnt even break it up to be remotely convenient for an oil change. The piece I took out required loosening the air damn in front and taking out fasters on the piece behind it. Both ends were sandwiched.

Regular carpet is plastic made to look like carpet too ;) Unless you get that fancy cotton berber carpet or something. On a serious note though, it’s durable stuff. We have some of it in the wheel well of our 18 highlander, and it doesn't even get dirty.

Replaced the fan belt and idler pulleys (including the one on the tensioner). The old belt had many cracks on it. All the original idler pulleys were rusted, but the bearings were in good condition and rotated smoothly.

    AMWts8A4b7Ty42MLu_OYdBYPtUZA0gJ3TVKAqnyE_96d8deceabc7d7feeb68dbe17b3d6597e95b7a03.jpg AMWts8AKppqe3EUtM-p9cvUGPvul_vZ7SUmgPWvt_708c30a6d77e2af396cbfe6e7388bee7d6572b92.jpg

The oil cooler crowds the lower pulley, so there was no room for a socket on the pulley bolt. I had to use the double-wrench method, held together with some duct tape to prevent slippage:

New belt and pulleys put in. Also replaced the radiator cap as cheap preventative maintenance:

    AMWts8DlGIqk8QXPbjCHvDanrbh_21r3Rro7-a1o_759bfceedff97c888cdbc3ee30c3b36c65595909.jpg AMWts8BJBDrVlUGzjS54RsGfcsImfz3598UtJaLa_8648bffb76bb63494254c5d343bb9c84ca15c49c.jpg

    Parts list:
Belt: Toyota 90916A2015 or Bando 7PK2150
Upper idler x2: Continental 49127 (made in Canada)
Upper idler bolt x2: Toyota 90105A0126
Lower idler: Continental 49129 (made in Canada)
Tensioner pulley: same Continental 49129, but re-use the LH-threaded factory bolt
    Radiator cap: Motorad T37

installed a heritage grille and some raptor lights. I was very hesitant to do this but honestly I think all of the 4runners should come with the heritage grille.

That’s awesome! I didn’t mean to end up with two silvers, I really wanted the Army Green, but the only one they had didn’t have KDSS so I settled for silver.

Hmmm, what’s that smell? Oh just soaked sound deadening on the passenger front and rear. I’m not sure if water is getting in or I spilled something a while back but damn this sucks.

Where did you tap in for the Raptor Light Power? I used the EFI-2 spot in the main fuse box in the engine bay but the lights would randomly turn on...

I used the 10A for the Tail lights (tail) under driver side dash. They only come on with lights.

Thanks! The harness I got wasn't long enough to reach the cabin fuse box and I was trying to use the engine bay box and not add another connection to extend the harness. I suppose I'll just do that.

has anyone noticed the change in the filter pleating on the Fran synthetic oil filter, if you use Fram, (XG10158) recently?

The new ones have a fuzzy cotton look to them compared to the one I bought in Nov 2022. Weird…

Today was just a washing but yesterday I was finally able to get up to R4T in Denver and had a complete set of Elka's installed giving it a 3" lift along with SPC UCA's, 700lb Toytech rear springs, ARB Diff breather, bump stops, and KMC 17" wheels with Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T's mounted in 285/70R17's. Looks and rides so much nicer now!

Finally got around to installing the Ironman UCA’s I bought during the Black Friday sale. When I got an alignment after installing my lift, the shop was only able to get my caster to 2.6°, and it required more steering input on the highway than I liked.

I have the lifetime alignment from Firestone, so I decided to go back again for this alignment. I don’t have a lot of confidence in their abilities after today, at least at my local shop. When they called to say the alignment was done they told me they got camber and toe in spec but couldn’t get caster below 4.2°. I asked if that meant they adjusted the LCA cam bolts for least caster and they said the only way they would be able to get less would be to rotate the UCA ball joint which would be an extra $100 as it’s not part of their lifetime alignment. I don’t have SPC’s so I’m not sure what they were thinking they would be able to rotate. I also looked and saw they didn’t adjust the cam bolts. At least I the steering feels better and I know I now have good caster and body Mount clearance for when I upsize tires.

I wouldn't count on those UCA's giving you more body mount clearance.

My comment about body mount clearance wasn’t relating to the UCA’s themselves. I was just referring to the LCA cam bolts being in the position where the tires are about as far forward as possible. I meant this as opposed to the alternative of being at around 4° caster with the LCA’s adjust to position the wheel further back due to the UCA’s having too much additional caster built in.
