Also those bumpers dont stop anything but shopping carts. I read an article on those “bumpers” and they call the crash multipliers.

 

They cant balance using standard hub centric balancing. They need to do a lug centric balancing with an adapter

 

Installed new Ironman Raid style winch bumper. Looks great, fits good but winch install is a bit of a PITA.

Can finally go wheelin' solo without being stressed about getting stuck.

 

Maybe it's the angle of the photo, but doesn't the hoop on that completely block your TSS sensor plate?

 

Replaced the driver side rear brake caliper. Being dumb, I stripped the guide bolts out and had to replace it. Bleeding the brake wasn’t that bad.

 

Just posted the video of Lasfit LED bulbs I shared pics few days ago. Light output testing starts around 20:00 mark and I have included the time line bookmarks in the description of the video since I think the video is little long since I'm not a pro, I was just recording as I'm doing it. I think @36:52 Lasfit LED on halogen projector vs stock LED headlight housing on my 21' is very interesting to see (at least for me ).

I finally had time and got help from my son-in-law to install the Westcott Designs TRD Pro Lift Kit for stock Fox suspensions. I did watch a few "how to's" on YouTube that make it look way to easy. It's not that easy but the videos sure helped. We completed the installation with little trouble. Bought a set of BFG KO2's 285/70R17 to complete the desired look and ride. Got all the glass ceramic tinted too. I think that'll be it for mods for a while. Actually, I'm looking at the full roof rack from Westcott Designs. Maybe...

 

4R looks good with those 285s. I also like you went with Load C. A nice balance between on road comfort and offroad strength. I still remember people saying BS "you don't need a lift for 33's" which practically doesn't work.

Any challenges with balancing KO2s? Did road force balance? Few seem to have issues in balancing KO2s.

 

As a matter of fact, of the original four KO2’s I purchased from Costco, one had to be replaced as it took way too much weight to balance it. Costco said they had to order a replacement as that tire was defective. Had to wait a day but they had one come in and had the defective one replaced. Balanced normally. Wow! I wonder how often they come across a defective KO2? All good now though. Rides great on the freeway. Thanks!

 

Ole Clifford got his yearly deep clean and ceramic coating touch up yesterday. So naturally today will be loading it with bags of potting soil and stones for the latest landscaping project.

 

I installed the Dr. KDSS control unit yesterday. Essentially a switch that turns your KDSS system on and off as needed. As most know the KDSS system kicks in over 12 mph to stiffen up and secure the ride and decrease body roll.

In theory being able to deactivate it when say driving 15-40mph over rough stretches on-road or fire roads washes etc will soften up the ride some

so far only tested out on smaller side roads going 20-40mph in my area riddled with small pot holes and imperfections and by my highly calibrated and sensitive Ass-O-Meter it seems to soften them up about 15-20% when KDSS is on and working

next I will like to try it off-road

Finished the job with the two-piece transfer case skid plate from RCI.

 

Fueled up twice this week, gotta love the stock gears on 315's lol!

 

Installed black rails & took off the silver ones. Blind spot side mirrors installed. Diff breather done. New black oem lugs too & had to get another key. Fuck those key prices….

 

Can I ask where you found the black rails? I’ve tossed around the idea of getting mine coated but it may be easier just to replace them.

 

Actually it doesn't. The instructions say models with safety system it would interfere, but so far, it hasn't.

Added a yellow light bar to the bull bar. For a "cheapy" from Amazon, pretty decent on light output. And fixed the awkward looking "O."

The 4Runner's old engine air filter is Toyota OEM Denso, but surprisingly has Fram's logo on there too! Replaced it with a Fram Extra Guard CA10835.



Test fitted a replacement wheel as a spare, Touren TR65 17x7.5 +20mm, among the cheapest alloy wheels readily available new on the market, heavy. Surprisingly it has a 106mm centerbore, no hubcentric ring required, but needs low-profile conical lugnuts:

 

Purchased a single tire for the spare, MotoMaster X-Trail A/T in 265/70-17 (32"). Looks like a Falken AT3W knockoff, also with severe snow rating, made in USA:

 

Cleaned up and assessed trail damage from my last trip.

 

Over the weekend, installed a snorkel, resulting in a purchase of new fender liner clips, then made a 450 mile trip to get my dog from my daughter at college. I do believe I have a higher mpg now, but not really a good test.

 

how are those Geolander MTs on the highway, noisy?

 

Yes, but not too bad. I did come from 50k on Nitto Trails, so it wasn't really a noticeable difference. I did take a hit on mpg with each upsize though. Averaging around 16mpg on a few hours of 60mph driving with some lights yesterday. Daily driving with a mix of highways was down to 13.5 before the snorkel.

 

I will say they saved my butt in a deep fender depth water hole back in November.

 

Just installed the black valences from 4Runner lifestyle. And am about to get the windshield replaced.
