It was a polarity issue. The plugs and sockets confused me. looked like they fit backwards... All fixed now. They look great but the amber colors are a little different.

 

How many miles were on to the Toyo’s and what issues did you experience?

I just installed a set of 285 Toyo’s last month as my 285 KO2 wore out and I have been going back and forth if I should also install dedicated winters again (pre-285s I would run dedicated winter 265 Nokians and 265 Falkens the rest of the time).

 

Maybe consider 255/80 for winter tires? That’s one of the things I’ve been considering once I do a lift.

 

Gone from snow to rain in the last couple of days. Will try to do some work today or tomorrow on a back-seat organizer, organizing cargo area, etc. Cleaning up from last trip and starting to prep for the next one. Retirement is nice!

Edit: It did work for me. Strange though. I tried it a couple of days ago with no success. Yet today, it worked.

 

Picked up a 2010 SR5 with 140k miles last week. Clean inside and out. Better than expected rust level for its age. Came with 32" BFG Winter T/A tires, manual transfer case, and no pesky manifold air injection. Spent less on it than on my Tacoma mods

 

The 4Runner came with a bonus finishing nail in the tire. Had to get that plugged first:



Then it's getting the stash of parts installed. First to go in is a Diode Dynamics C1R reverse / aux brake light, P/N DD7422, bought from a local speed shop. The kit includes a breakout cable that plugs into the back of the Pollak trailer connector, and includes a little flasher box to blink the brake light on initial application. Same P/N works on 3rd gen Tacomas as well.



Previous owner somehow bent the Michelin wipers. Replaced those with Bosch Icon P/Ns 24A and 20B. Will repaint the wiper arms in spring.



Put in new carbon cabin filter TYC P/N 800012C and a Salex console organizer P/N SLX112

 

any suggestion on strong adhesive double sided foam tape..?

need to redo my low profile window deflectors..

VHB, but buy from an authorized vendor. The ones on Amazon can (usually is) be fake and don't bond as well.

Agree 100%. Buy 3M VHB or Tesa ACX tape.

 

3M molding tape from your local auto parts store. Available in 1/4", 1/2" and I think 5/8" widths, though you can always trim with scissors.

 

Those are not US spec 2010 SR5 bumpers. They rather painted Trail bumpers which is Canadian spec SR5.

I installed a dash cam. I wanted something reliable, not too expensive, and fairly small. I went with the Garmin dash cam mini 2. Also got the polarizer lens. I’ll see in the next couple days if I like it or not.

Right now it’s wired using the mirror mod adapter so it’s only on when the car is on. For now that’s fine with me. Down the road I might hard wire it for parking mode.

install was super easy and I like that I can’t see it when I drive. No wires or cables in the way. Slightly visible from outside.

Cobbled together a phone mount using parts I had laying around - Garmin Nuvi GPS bracket, two i.Trek adhesive mounts, and a clamping arm from a defunct R310 dash cam. The phone vibrates too much on bumpy roads though. Long-term will need to get something less flexible:



Doubled the approach angle for $0 dollars by removing the chrome nerf bar

 

Despite not being 4K the video quality is pretty decent in my opinion. Don’t count on it if you want to record your adventures in sharp National geo documentary like quality but definitely enough for a dash cam for me
