From years of doing my own oil changes even when I don’t over tighten the filter or filer housing on vehicles, sometimes they just end up insanely tight when you go to remove them a year later or 10000 miles. Even the old school canisters that Id hand tighten. Any time I see someone blaming the dealer for stuck filters, I think of this. Not sure if others had similar experiences. Must be the heat cycles…

Ever see that "Objects in mirror may be larger than they appear" logo"? lol.

I guess the same applies, the garage is wider than it looks its sufficient.

Are you lubing the filter housing gaskets with dino oil before reinstalling? My experience is using synthetic oil to lube the gaskets just does not work. The housing gasket is "wedded", a term I heard years ago, to the engine part (filter intake?) the filter housing screws to. A little conventional oil on the gasket and all is well.

yes, on my camaro because I use dino oil in it. No on every other vehicle. I’ll give it a try though.

How are you liking the 275? Noticeable diff from 265, assuming that's where you came from. I'm debating that now.. 275 or 285 (w/mods).

When Lifted Limited with 285s have better mpg on airport run during rush hour than almost stock TRD Pro in 2wd

No sir, its in stock state. I guess if it can be adjusted it would have given better mpg numbers. Right now it thinks it has traveled less miles but actually it has traveled more than 42 miles. (I guess)

Hey everyone. I'm still new to the T4R landscape. I previously had a 16 Tacoma, but upgraded to a 21 TRD Off Road Premium. I had a Garmin mini cam inside my Taco, but I forgot to get the Dongar adapter from the rearview mirror. As such, does anyone know what is the proper Dongar adapter to use on the 4R? Or does anyone else have a better camera setup recommendation?

Hello fellow 4runner folks. So my long awaited stereo system was today in the final stages and being tuned. Have to admit I jumped so far down the rabbit hole on this project that after many months and attempts at using equipment to keep the stock setup I finally had to throw in the towel and call in some proper professionals. So at long last I’m about ready to enjoy my music at ungodly levels of sound lol. I’m in every sense and audiophile and although my Fiancee is still comings to terms with this fact she’s on board with the fact that I love sound. I hope this gives my fellow runners some ideas and in case anyone ever wondered we can fit an 8 inch midrange in the front doors.

I ended up going with 4 tweeters, 2 on the dash and 2 custom mounted into the rear gate. I didn’t put tweeters in the rear doors because I have them covered with the Canvasback door covers so used just a midrange in the rear doors. Uses 6 midrange drivers, 1 in each door and 2 in the gate. I had to use 3 separate amplifiers, 1 for the tweeters, 1 for all 6 midranges and 1 for the sub. To give an idea the sub amp puts out 750rms but I’m only running 1 fosgste d3 which can handle up to about 600rms. Imo this is more than enough bass but I was going for clarity and sound quality at very high decibels… mission accomplished!!! My ears are still ringing from the sound check today and believe it or not the 3 amp, 2 crossovers, gel battery and fuse panel all fit behind the factory JBL rear trim panel. My truck is a venture so along my way down the rabbit hole I picked up the jbl sub (which is a joke btw) and trim panel. I hope you all enjoy and know if you ever are off road and hear someone blasting music it’s probably me lol

While not nearly as impressive as what 2017ltd has cooking above, upgraded to Morel Tempo Ultra 6x9’s in the front and 6.5’s in the rear powered by a Morel amplifier. In addition to Dynamat on all 4 doors as well.
It has begun. Cost right at $2000

If you’re that far down the rabbit hole on stereo gear, make sure it’s covered by your auto policy.

Good call. After my week old ORP got totaled, I made sure to get gap insurance and so on after having to deal with the insurance trying to lowball me on on a week old vehicle where they had video of the other person blowing the light and my 4R getting flipped. And a CalTrans employee witness.

Sounds like insurance companies. They have no problem taking your money but when it comes time to pay they are gone. Reminds me of society today. Sad thing is people don’t mind screwing other people over. Then when it happens to them they get all upset. Insurance companies are supposed to help and not find every possible thing not to pay (granted they probably see some wild stuff but in your case that seems pretty straight forward), now we have to go get gap insurance because insurance won’t pay? What is next? Gap gap insurance? Gap gap gap insurance? Crazy. Anyways I hope everyone was okay in the accident and the 4Runner kept you safe.

Really appreciate that. Unfortunately, thanks to living in a rural area, 11 months later I still have not gotten into physical therapy or been scheduled yet for the surgery on my shoulder.
And have moderate to severe Spinal Stenosis for the disaster.
