I wanted to post this once I had confirmed it worked well. Essentially, not being a complete Blue Sea fan, I like their gauges though, I installed a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee PDU(A/K/A) "fuse box" to distribute power from my secondary battery to whatever I added on down the road such as a fridge, lights, GAU-8/A, what have you. "Heresy!" Jeep parts into a Toyota..lol. But wait it gets better!

I found some cheap ditch lights and mated them with some Cali-raised low profile mounts. Cali-raised makes some good stuff! I had seen a couple of posts somewhere on the interwebs describing how to use the Wireless 'Home-Link' buttons to control wireless relays. The Home-Link buttons are pretty useless to me as is because I don't have a garage and don't live behind a gate. So off I went to Amazon and found a cheap Chinese POS wireless relay. The key to this is it has to be a 'latching' relay not momentary. Latching will keep the wireless relay closed allowing lights to stay on and not go off once you release the 'Home-Link' button.

Now I have three buttons that can be used and not have the need to hardwire to the dash. I'm not sure I will keep it this way. I just wanted to see if I could make it work. I have a fancy hard switch that lights up on the bench waiting. If I do decide I like this I'll be getting a much more robust, industrial type relay and not rely on the current one as I don't trust it. The PDU is mounted on a shelf from C4 Fab as I was going to mount an AC there but decided against.

Programming the 'Home-Link' buttons, if your 4Runner is equipped, is straight forward, but you have to follow the manual exactly. $30 for the junkyard fuse box. $15 bucks for relay. I had some plastic restorer and fuse box looks like it belongs there.
    YMMV

A very long story short :sadviolin:Jul 2020, ~six months into ownership, a hail storm in Kansas pummelled the 4Runner (every piece of blue tape a hit). :( Took it to a national chain repair body shop and they repaired the vehicle, with too many shortcomings to list. Summer 2021, found rust in all four roof rack anchor points when installing solar panels, likely from the poor hail repair since they removed the roof then. Tomorrow, 10 Jan 2022, taking the 4Runner to a local Toyota dealer body shop because NOT wanting to return to where the initial repair was done. Didn't take it to Toyota for hail repair because Toyota is NOT experienced with hail in Phoenix, AZ and the other company said they repaired many dealer vehicles in the last hail storm in Phoenix, AZ in 2010. Unfortunately, because Toyota has to drop the roof liner they were going to charge me for that work, and who knows what a mess they would make. So today, I had to remove the in-progress built before dropping it off tomorrow.

Made rotopax mount with their plate and couple of extruded L shape aluminum bars from home depot (painted).
Just a fun project, don't know if I'll ever use them or not. Probably going to make a lot of noise on the freeway. I could have put the cross bars closer and mount the plate directly on to the yakima mighty mounts but didn't want to reduce the pitch stability of the yakima doublehaul fly rod vault.

Got started with my molle panels today. Was going to treat the 4runner to a touchless wash, but I lost my credit card, sigh…. The card probably just decided to escape due to all the abuse it’s getting.

I finally got around to putting a 12v connector inside the dash and running all my power cords into the dash to clean up the wiring that was everywhere.

How'd those tires perform? I have those tires saved in my Tire Rack account but I wanted to see what this forum has to say about them. I haven't been able to find any reviews of them. Also what size are your tires in these photos? They look huge!

Installed the Desert Does It Seat Jackers. Super easy and my long legs already approve. My last long trip over the holidays convinced me to give them a try. They are not going back.

I'm definitely enjoying mine. I also got the molle panel. Have two flashlights mounted with quickfists, a knife and a multi tool that are mounted with Desert Does It magnets. I think the seat jackers help and I like the convenience of using that space in front of my feet. Thought I would hit the flashlight but I don't.

how tall are you? im 6' 5" and think i want to get these.

does this make the seat back sit back further to the point where it would affect a passenger's leg room? TIA!

I have these installed in mine and I'm 6'4. It definitely made a world of difference and I don't think it affects the rear space at all but I never have anyone riding in the rear so

You and I both, every time I went to a target or a Wally world I would tell my wife, I'm going to the toy section, she bought me one from ebay. $25 with shipping. I probably spent twice that on gas looking for one.
