What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Finally upgraded my tires, kept the stockers to put on another set for long highway road trips. Stayed with stock size, 265/70r17 for anyone who's going to ask.

 

Get some Apex overland recovery point and you can attach them to that.

 

Spent the past day and a half installing this steering wheel cover. Probably one of the more challenging things I've installed so far. The wheel looks new again and hopefully it holds up better than the stock skin. Loving the softer plushier feel and it looks stock. Again, another item these 4Rs should've came with from the factory.

 

Left the wheel mounted i take it?

 

Yeah, I took the airbag off just to make tucking the edges in a bit easier but that's it.

 

Looks good. I didn't have the patience, so i pulled the wheel.

 

Got the lights on. Should have don’t it before covering it in wool wax lol accidentally cut a wire on the front pass light. Gonna have to splice it up tm, can’t see my cool suspension but you can see the ground around the tires and there places where they shouldn’t be in direct tire throw of mud

 

Anyone have any trail plans for this big weekend?

Wow. That is an absolutely fantastic job! Looks better than the factory install on some other car brands Ive seen.

I just had those same tires (but smaller) put on our 2013 Honda Pilot for my son to have in Bozeman, MT while attending Montana State U. Cool drive from MD to MT. That tire had good reviews for snow driving.

 

I also have a 21 LR Pro and am very intrigued with that tire size. Do you have any rubbing with that new set up? I don't have the added weight that you have and I have no intention of doing so, other than removing the stock predator tube steps and adding sliders.

 

I bet the 2013 Pilot looks pretty cool with those tires. Always wondered what that gen pilot would look like with AT tires and a small lift.

 

Kinda boxy and a road vehicle. It has been a good family vehicle, but looks and feels nothing like a 4R. The stock tire size is: 235/60R18. It does look cooler with the Toyo Open Country AT, but at that tire size the treads are no very deep. Would have liked to put on some all black steelies in a 17" to have more tire and less wheel. I have never seen a modified Honda Pilot.

 

Not yet. The shop cut away some fender well liner. Will know better Monday

 

Do you have any front shots of the 4Runner, looking to gauge the width of the tires.

 

Getting ready for a trip! Mounted the recovery boards, axe and shovel.

 

Playing with my knobs again. In the attempt to hide the ugly gray color on the center controls, picked up the AJT set. I then wrapped the climate bezels with some smoked headlight film.



The left side is stock, the unleft side is smoked.

 

What else is going up on the roof ?

 

I didn't put mine in the wheel wells, because I wanted more light right in front and back of the tires. But I think they look better how you did it, lol.

 

That’s it for now. Just got the truck a week ago and installed most of the $15k in parts. In a month or so I’ll get a case to hold recovery tools.

 

Ordered full c4 bumper, and fox 2.5 suspension. Apparently my low pro c4 bumper is bent from the wreck…

 

Picked up from the shop today , got lift installed and Arb front bumper and winch installed
