What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

drove guys from my search and rescue team to the search site on sunday. loaded up 4 people, a ton of packs and gear and a 150 lb german shepherd. long, tough day, but really glad i have my vehicle for stuff like that.

 

Great picture...Originally from MI and spent lots of time between Port Huron and Port Austin...miss swimming in those waters.

 

Well yesterday but got new tires. Toyo Open County AT3.

 

I've run those too, they're a great tire with good on road manners and hold their own off road.

Yes. I could have gone with taller/skinny but I had already ordered them and I don't care to be much taller. At some point I'll get a lift anyway.

 

Factory size on Factory Replica Wheels (which are an inch wider). I am about 2.5" front and almost 3" rear

Just about to hit 10k miles, so, I went ahead and got an appointment set up to get an oil change and have my new wheels installed on Saturday.

Even though I said I wouldn't. I'm also working up the courage to whip out the masking tape and fire up my dremel to cut my bumper in preparation for when I go up to 33s.

No dremel needed (unless you want to).

A sharp box knife is sufficient to trim for 33's.

 

A little Optimum no-rinse and a sponge and you’re back in business.

I replaced mine with LED's and it failed inspection here in VA...

 

Ohh really? I wonder what's the law in CO.

 

Same here, I went home and put the regular bulbs back in got inspection. Went back home and put the led bulbs back in tell next year inspection

 

He said if it didn't come with LED bulbs from the factory it won't pass inspection in Virginia

 

Yeah, I bet. I also have to remove my ditch lights because VA inspection. I find it ridiculous but, VA is slow to update stupid/antiquated laws...

 

nice! where did you order the receiver hitch D ring from.. I have the same set up blacked out with the black exhaust tip that adds 2-3 hp lol..

 

Thanks! I got it from Amazon - I used a birthday gift coupon that was getting old. And, since you've had your blackout-tip longer than I, yours is now broken in and you're probably getting more like 3-5 HP!

 

Well, my 4Runner is finally armored up from front to rear! I finally got the RCI Rear Diff skid installed today. This one was pretty straightforward thankfully (unlike that damn T-Case skid...). Biggest problem was that some of the bolts were rather difficult to get in there in order to tighten them down.

I also got the shipping notification for my CaliRaised sliders. I might actually have these before we go on our trip!

May be because I'm a small guy T-Case was not much difference from other skids. Is it the cross member bolts that are hard to reach?

I don't know why Toyota didn't make it an option. Maybe safety reasons
I think this is more useful.

 

My biggest problem with the t-case skid was that hardly anything wanted to line up properly for some reason. Especially the cross member. I finally got it, but, it was in doubt at times. This rear diff skid was just because couldn't really get my hands into some of those tighter areas for tightening down the nuts. *laughs* I came out from this install looking like I'd played Bloody Knuckles and lost miserably.

 

I thought it is an option when using Carista?
