Got my Echomaster Hitch Mount Parking sensor assembly this weekend. Installing was a no brainer. Just insert into the receiver, connect the supplied cable to the 7-pin trailer plug, insert Receiver into cigarette lighter, program it and plug your ears. Seriously you can get annoyed by the chirping but you can mute it some. Doesn’t bother me though since I wanted some reverse sensor function as the 4Runner engineers decided it only needed to go on the Limited models. This was a relatively inexpensive way to get the function without drilling holes in the bumper, which must come off, and running wires. It will do for a while. It comes with two locking hitch pins, one for a 1 1/4 Hitch as well as the 2 inch. It is universal after all. Also has a wiring kit for those without a 7-pin connector. If and when a camper 32638CBA-DF0C-4101-BF86-B15C8C179155.jpg E8357818-DF16-4604-96A6-7D82D938282C.jpg trailer comes into my life I will opt for a wireless backup camera on the trailer.
Turn your audio down before running the You tube video—or not. Yes, you can stand on the hitch mount.

What is the point of that if you have a back up camera?

That would be on my list of ( What not to get ) Sorry, if it works for you great. I retired from a job that had back-up alarms on almost everything. A few of the new 10-wheel dump trucks were equipped with the proximity sensor, annoying as fuck.

IMO the backup camera sucks. The small screen washes out in sunlight and at night it is grainy and useless from the glare of the reverse lights. While I would prefer a stock OEM system of sensors I will live with the annoyance for a while. Not for everyone but I like the little bit of extra security. Many people rely on the sensors (when equipped) more than the camera.

I understand your disdain for the noise for having to live with it constantly on the job. I thought a lot of the big truck systems were geared toward warning people outside the vehicle that this big monster is backing up and to steer clear. Was not aware they chirped inside too. At any rate I am not that uncomfortable with the little extra security it gives me since the 4R backup camera really sucks. Would prefer an OEM system but 4Runners lack this option except in the Limited model. I’ll persevere until something better comes along.

Went out looking for a couple of elusive, abandoned RR tunnels. Wasn't super successful - found the tunnels, but too wet to access them. Still, got to drive around on some fun dirt roads, river bars, old RR right of way... who doesn't love exploring in their 4R?

Can you give me an idea of shipping to 90604. I tried to pull it up on your site but it said there was no FedEx in my area.
