Got rid of mine after it left me in limp mode twice in two different trips. Sprint Booster have been flawless.

 

Bought her a week and a half ago and finally got around to putting a ceramic coating on her.

Engine bay clean and dressing after 2 days of trail run.

 

Changed my air filter and cabin air filter. Things I learned.

Just buy OEM parts.
First bought a Bosch HEPA filter. It reduced the air coming from the vents by at least 40%. Also made the ac louder.
Then bought a K&N cabin filter and read about the off gassing so I will be returning that as well.
Bought an AEM air filter. Made the engine noise louder. Returning tomorrow
Drove to dealership and bought both the OEM cabin and engine air filters for $47. One thing about the engine air filter is that it’s about half the thickness of my original one. It also doesn’t have the extra foam material on the bottom. Parts guy couldn’t tell me why. I installed it and it fits so I guess it’s fine.

I noticed the same thing last year when replacing my old filter.

Been running the new one since.

 

It says it is set up for light bars. You have to add some mounts for the Hellas. I used some circular clamps from Amazon (3") and put some weatherstripping behind it. Didn't tighten QUITE enuff, so I drilled a self-tapping screw in. It is easy to drill. If you have a splash guard (mine didn't) it needs to be cut. The RAV4 did but I just left the splash guard off.

 

How challenging is replacing the cabin filter on these machines? (I've got a new-to-me 2018 OR Premium.)

 

what is your method? Spray it down, or little by little?

 

I haven't done mine yet on my 4runner, but typically toyotas are very easy. Go in through the glove box, there should be a door that opens with tabs or slides to the side, then the actual door that holds the filter in behind that. 5 minute job usually

Do you feel the price and quality is worth it vs just getting the Baja designs?

 

I have Baja squadron pro’s as ditch lights. I like that Baja is a USA based product and has a lifetime warranty.

the diode’s got a lot of beef to them and feel excellent in quality. They do make a better light for fogs in my opinion. Baja for most everything else.

It has been a fun month of small upgrades. Still to add are Apex Overland recovery points and the "pumpkin snorke" (rear diff breather that runs up towards the gas intake) if anyone has any tips for this install let me know. Added this month, pro grille with raptor lights, BFG K02, Interior blue lights, Thule EVOS Aero 53' bar, Yakima load warrior.

The engine air filter delivered with your vehicle probably had that extra foam pre-filter, P/N 17801-38051. I read that it’s intent is for better grit and sand filtering in other parts of the world. In the US the substitute P/N is 17801-YZZ13 which fits fine but does not have the pre-filter.

If you really want it try ordering 17801-38051 on Amazon or other online Toyota parts stores. But sometimes they actually deliver the 17801-YZZ13, saying the other one is obsolete or discontinued. Make sure their return policy won’t cost you anything to return it.

But you can still get the pre-filter version. I’ve had good luck with Conicelli Toyota online. They stock both part numbers.

My LFD sliders FINALLY arrived. I began sanding them tonight. I'll probably go over them again tomorrow with a dremel to get in the nooks and crannies that I couldn't get into today. I'm hoping to get these all painted and put on my 4Runner by Sunday at the latest, but I do have until Thursday since I'll be heading to Rausch Creek Off Road park on Friday for their event on Saturday. I'm only going with the green group because it's my first time and my truck is still mostly stock, but I'd still like to have them on anyway.
