Looks really clean! Btw, on the positive wire - are those fuse blocks, and if so - why two in a series?

Lmao sure looks like it! Tools, recovery gear, camping table and chairs, gas stove and sleeping bags, couple of bags of food items and snacks, and change of clothes for 3.

If you want real protection, then, both sides, not just one, will be hot, right? Honestly, if this wasnt a off road rig, on that run, i wouldn't even fuse it. Two batteries, both sides will be hot. Make sense? One fuse, close to one battery, leaves the other leg, from second battery still hot. Feel me?

Did you tap into the wire you ran between the batteries? Only place I see your load connected to is the original battery. As far as fusing on each side of the connection - zero benefit unless you will be tapping into that actual line and only then fusing on both sides makes sense.

Sorry that black 4Runner is just too clean. Go back and go through that mud hole behind it!

    4Runners look good muddy.

I have the Eibach Pro Truck lift on there. Front is on the lowest clip setting.

    https://eibach.com/us/2000/E80-82-071-01-22-TOYOTA-4Runner-pro-truck-lift-system

Supposedly 2.75 inch front and 1 inch rear per their specs.
Have a lot of weight on it now with winch, bumper, steel skid plates, and steel sliders.

Here's how it currently sits with 285's. Road isn't level where I stopped.

You’re not wrong there. I’ve tried to avoid any deeper puddle. There is something about replacing wheel bearings early that I am not a big fan of. Lol hence the poser shots by the puddle only

Incorrect. Having a battery at both ends sends power through the wire from both ends. If you have a short at the 2nd battery and there is no fuse, you get fire. If you have a fuse at both ends of the wire close to each battery, the entire length of the wire is protected.

Lol which is why I asked you if you planned on connecting any loads in the middle section. Right now all of your loads are on the positive terminal of the primary battery. One fuse would suffice. Second thing, in your prior post you’ve posted a picture of a voltmeter showing 14vDc and proclaiming that the battery is charging . And I’ll leave it at that.

Your two fuse design only makes sense if you hook anything up in the circled section.

Took a few minutes this past weekend to mount up a 42” Plano rifle case to throw my recovery gear into, or misc camping gear. Good quality, lockable, low profile storage case Made in the USA for less than $80. I’m able to get in and out of my 7 ft tall garage with literally a mm to spare. o_O

Wrong. Say somewhere in the middle section the wire rubs through. A fuse on only one side will not protect against shorts. A fuse on both sides will protect against shorts. With a fuse on only one side, a short in the circled section will result in a fire, period. With a fuse on both sides, a short in the circled section will not result in a fire, assuming the fuse is appropriately sized and blows quickly as it should.

    This ^

You want it fused on both ends in case of a short. You want both ends to be able to pop and protect each respective battery.

You have 2 options. You can buy the kit from SDHQ and it will save time, or you can cut. It isn’t hard to pull the piece out and cut on the bench. I wouldn’t do it while it is installed in the dash.

On the 2020 model I still had to pull out my dremel tool to cut away part of the dash (that is hidden) which prevented the SDHQ piece from fitting.
I also bought the battery accessories kit for the extra $100 or so dollars to make it easier to hook up my compressor and Winch. I will spare you all the pictures of the install as there are a lot of pictures online already. If you have any questions though I am happy to try and help.

Received the Tyger steps today....and was promptly informed by my Wife that she does not like the look of them at all. Sticking with the NFabs it is! *laughs*

I also received a set of Eibach rear coils. Not sure if I'll have them installed or not, though, 1'' lift in the rear with the coils and having the front at 1.5'' will look good, so I'm not concerned there, but, I'm not sure how it'll feel running the Eibach coils in the back while retaining the stock springs in the front.

By that logic - what if your wire’s insulation fails (rubs through as you said) between either fuse and the closer battery? Then you “have a fire” again. Then, the only rationale is to abandon wire altogether and just connect the batteries by chaining fuses. Lol

    What?

You just fuse each end at each battery terminal, using terminal mount fuses. If there was a short, it would pop both fuses and isolate both batteries from the short.

Please don’t do any wiring on your vehicle or other peoples vehicles. Put the fuses as close to each battery as possible. That protects the wire and both batteries. There is literally no way to dispute this, it’s fact. If you don’t understand how to properly wire something, that’s fine, but learn from those of us that do.

From the Q&A on Amazon: maybe this will help with your question.

    Question:
    Anyone know the internal dimensions?
    Answer:
Internal is 51.5 inches long, 14" across. Depth on the bottom is 3.25" and top depth is 1.75. There are cutouts for the wheel - see the product pic - inside and each is 2"x2" approx. I fit a scoped SKS and scoped Marlin 1894 Cowboy in there with 40 rounds of ammo for each. Hope this helps.
