What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Waiting on my interior led lights I bought off of eBay. I had them in my Tacoma what a big difference compared to the factory ones. Makes things much easier to see.

 

Looks reallly good! Love those wheels on the T4R’s. I have a set on my taco that came off of an fj, but mine look like theyre darker grey. Those almost look silver

 

E load tires are intended for heavy duty pickups and their added stiffness/weight makes them ride rougher, and they're not exactly intended for use on a light SUV like the 4Runner. At least thats what I've gathered from all the research on this forum... I will say the Cs I installed today ride better. I drive down a decent amount of dirt roads that can get pretty washboard, and I'd rather the tire not beat the car up.

 

Roger that, I get you. Was just wondering because we switched out our tires on the wife’s 4runner twice. Went wheeling a few times once with the stock tires, few times with the c load 265/70/17 BF Goodrich a/t KO2’s, after noticing the beating they both took on some mild trails we ultimately decided to go with the E load tires. We run our tire pressure on both my Taco and the wife’s 4runner around 32 PSI cold. With the e load BF Goodrich ko2’s the ride smooth, not brand new Cadillac smooth but it’s not a jarring ride like some say.

 

I'm running 295/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. They're an LT E rated tire and ride great. Back end is stiff but I think that's more to do with the Bilstein 5100 shocks which I'm not a huge fan of and will be upgrading eventually. If I put a couple hundred pounds of weight back there, the ride is much better. I have the 5100s up front also with 700 pound coils and it rides great IMO. These Nitto's actually ride much better than my E rated KO2 did. What you said in general is correct though, E rated tires are intended for a heavier truck however there is no harm or safety risk using them on our runners. Watch your air pressure and you'll be just fine.

The guy at Raingler was very helpful (I had several questions before and after ordering). I am really happy with the product. Install was about 5.5/10, as it required a little patience and some planning. I already knew I would like the Rago Panel, and it did not disappoint - very easy install!Plan to add pouches and make them as functional as possible.

They match the 'GreyMan Tactical Panel' behind passenger seat pretty well. *What I like about the GreyMan Panel is that I can reach everything from the driver's seat (first aid, knife, flashlight, garbage bin, and etc...)

like most things, the installation was more difficult the first time. Took about an hour, and most of that was making sure I didn't drill into some wires, or airbag, etc....

basically, pull away the plastic pillar covers... and then requires drilling and attaching the anchors (2 screws in each of the four corners) which holds the the straps. The middle D-ring attaches where the coat hanger is.

Ordered an Oil catch can for the Wife's 4 Runner today, I will install it this weekend.

 

Helped out a fellow motorist that was test driving an old Dodge pick-up. Turns out that his brakes were locked up, so it was interesting. Never tried pulling anyone before that didn't have wheels that rolled. 4h didn't wanna pull, so 4L +locker were enabled. Drug him about a quarter of a mile, to get him off the road, with tire smoke billowing out behind him. Note, in 4L, the runner wasn't even working hard.

 

Trimmed the extra part of the mud flap off. WTF is the point of that part?



And blacked out the roof rack. Once you go black rack you never go back.

I havent actually done anything yet, but I just ordered my Icon suspension the other day. Im pretty damn excited

I know there is trimming needed for a 2.5 - 1.5 lift with 285's.......

How was the trimming with the 295's? Anything major?

What is the total lift for your front and back with the Toytec Ultimate with your cornfed in the rear? The 295's look awesome!

 

Very little trimming needed. A lot of people heat and mold or cut the fender liners. Personally I didn't like any of those ideas so I looked at it and figured out a much better way to do it. There are 2 10mm bolts that hold the liner to the front bumper at the lower edge. I simply removed those bolts, pushed the plastic liner as far forward as possible, drilled 2 new holes in the liner, and put the factory bolts back in. I then trimmed the plastic bumper skin with a razor to match the liner curve. Looks factory, you wouldn't know I did it if I didn't tell you. That's the only place I had any rubbing at all. I haven't taken it off road or stuffed the tires so I can't speak for rubbing in those situations. This is all with 1* of caster in my alignment. I have a total of 3" up front a 2.75" in the back. The back looks like it's squatting in that picture but it isn't, just the parking lot I was in and the way I was parked. I actually still have a slight positive rake which I personally like.

Could you two be any cornier while providing an excellent tutorial on how I will install my SSO front bumper and Smittybilt winch once they arrive? Bravo on the presentation, editing and really clear audio and video.

Will you be adding (or have you already added) a tutorial on the electrical hookup for the winch and lights? Did you control the light bar through the high beam circuit as has been recommended to me to prevent inadvertent blinding of others and sure tickets?

Majority of the threads I was reading stated they were heating the plastic liner and bending it forward or just cutting sections out of the liner. Not a fan of cutting really anything at all but settles for having to trim the bumper skin a little. BMC is not an option for me, there's no reason for it, ever. Set your truck up right, get your caster set right, you won't have to do a BMC

So... I've installed the Toytec BOSS suspension system, mounted Falken 285s. Now they rub on the front sway bar at full left or right forward
What are my options?

 

Installed a nice plug n play HID kit from Toytec Lifts. 35w 6000k kit. Great improvement over stock and a great price on their website.
