What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Looks like you have sliders and a small lift, easy enough to move over to your new vehicle. Worth it in my opinion over having your vehicle fixed, hopefully perfectly like it never happened, but still having the value diminished due to the accident. On average, you'll lose 30% on a trade in due to an accident on the history report.

Sadly, nothing aside from setting my sights on a different 4Runner entirely. As I found out that due to a glitch in the system my ORP build was missing most of the options I had specified.My dealership did a search for a swap, but, nothing matching my build was anywhere nearby. On the plus side, they have a couple of TRD Pros that have been allocated for them, so, I've got one spoken for.

LOL he isn't getting a brand new vehicle. Its an accident the insurance will cover it just like any other accident. The dealer could heavily discount a new vehicle and take that one in on trade after its fixed but has no obligation to do so.. If a plastic surgeon hits your wife's car she doesn't get fake boobs for free..

I’d push for everything I could get. The diminished value of the vehicle is unacceptable. If you accept the minimum that’s on you.

Concierge service isn't just for high end vehicles, so I don't see the point of your comment. There's a number of different scenarios, even without COVID, where this could be an option - one vehicle, at work, they don't offer a shuttle, etc. Even then, the odds of that happening while dropping it off to him or test driving to diagnose a complaint are the same.

Enjoy being the only person that can ever drive your vehicle, or high horse, whatever you call it.

 

I agree, first mistake was going to the dealer to begin with. There is still that diminished value issue though and I would not roll over and accept that.

 

To the Lexus point, a Lexus is just an overpriced Toyota. Ever work on a Lexus? Every part is branded Toyota. Same vehicle, couple extra frilly things, 50% more expensive for the name.

 

1. Diminished value is a insurance claim you just have to ask the insurance company for it. I got back almost $3000 in diminished value on my Rubicon when someone keyed it. Carfax is doing a number on insurance companies my vehicle dropped $3500 in one month after damage was reported.

2. Lexus is a service company that sells great cars. You pay the premium for the service.

3. Accidents happen why so much HATE because on did happen?

 

Lexus is a service company? Lexus is Toyota, they're the same company, two different names. Just like Honda / Acura, Kia/ Hyundai, Jeep / FIAT / Dodge / Mercedes / Freightliner, Nissan / Infinity, and the list goes on. Hate has nothing to do with it. Someone else damaged my property, I will be compensated accordingly. It's that simple.

 

Many dealers offer it as a service. It makes getting the service done a lot easier for many people. The way service centers work is they sell time and so for the dealer, pickup and drop off helps them keep technicians busy and the dealership making money. Some of this might be COVID related but it's been a standard practice for some time and I don't know I'd call it an "excuse". Many folks lead busy lives and this is one way to mitigate the time it takes to service their vehicles.

As far as diminished claims go, kind of a pain in the ass to calculate. At a minimum, you'll get something like 10% of the base value with various multipliers based on the condition of the vehicle prior to the accident. If it turns out to be the other guy's fault, be sure to file a diminished value claim-and be prepared for the PITA part.

Well I learned two things about the T4R today..

1. It’s runs out of gas with 11 miles left on the read out.
2. The cruise control setting does not match the MPH read out off by 2 MPH

I’m a blue light lover. Entire interior in blue light, cool as heck

 

I ran mine down to where it said 10 miles one time and when I filled the tank it still had 2 gallons in the tank. Guess not all runners read the same. Did it restart ok? Heard it messes with something when you run out?
Most runners are off 2 mph. When I switched to 285 my Speedo was spot on accurate

 

It’s running fine after restart but there had to be some fuel in the tank. I didnt plan this but I was on a stretch of highway between FL turnpike and hwy 52 on 75 S It’s about a 60 mile stretch where stations have closed. I think it stalled because of the angle as I had to go up a good incline to get the pumps.and my fuel,light came at that time as well.

 

Something might be off w/ your 4R. Due to the brutal winter temps and many warm-up's, I let the gas get a little lower than normal. I was driving it to the gas station when it had 1 mile left on the readout and I still wasn't nervous. I don't know if it's the same w/ the 4R, but when its "empty" you still have some wiggle room to get to a station ASAP. Before I get bashed, this is the first time it's ever been that low. I am going to call it a mental lapse of the sorts - I mean, I could blame the wife, but that usually doesn't get me far.

Its been my experience but in my understanding the needle get to E, most if not all, vehicles will not magically stop
Weather may play a roll in this sure but pump the brakes will too just sayin
All things considered...the fuel line still have blood pumping though it but the main thing is that E is a strong warning telling ya "hey person driving me, im thirsty"
Anyhoo most vehicles have 'reserve' about 1-2 gallon of go juice when the needle hits E
Just say yall...don't hang me...this is what I've experienced
