Not much has changed since the 5th gen started production in 2010. Parts are definitely available in Canada

I put it in 4H for the first time :) A bit of snow and lots of ice everywhere. Could not go straight up on a steep hill without her ass going side to side.
Not sure how “amazing” these Falkens are in snow and ice as there was A LOT of ice...

Nothing is good on ice besides maybe a studded tire. Just a little info for you to keep in the back of your mind. You're supposed to cycle 4wd and drive in 4wd 15 miles per month. I usually just wait for a rainy day and drive to or from work in 4wd and good to go.

The iPhone had no flash so it might look like I’m about to hit 88mph, I was doing about 30mph.

Was your rear end going sideways in 2wd or 4wd or both?

Well that's what 4wd is for. Figure you have a 5000lb rear wheel drive vehicle, add in an icy incline, and that's what happens with non-snow tires.

Wow. That looks quite amazing - it might be the only picture I need to help make a decision. I removed the old Baja rack and plan to sell that this spring to go toward a new (maybe Gobi?) rack. Is the top of the ladder attached with a swing arm of the sorts for opening/closing the rear cargo area? How was the install? Did you use any sort of RTV or other sealant?

Not 100% a truly snow tire, however, the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W has the 3PMSF symbol, which makes it better than the stock tires in snow/ice conditions, and probably better than all all-season non AT tires.

Shrockworks sliders & rear bumper, Toytec 3/2 lift, ARB diff mod, 8 pod RGB LED's, RCI steel front skids, Big Sky katana rack, Reese roof rack, cool stickers.
Crossed the Bear yesterday. Probably a foot of snow there today. This week's storm is going to close most of the roads until Spring.

I basically followed the instructions from a youtube channel. I'll leave the link below. Took me about 10 hours to install because I'm a perfectionist. 7 hours for the rack and the wind deflector. 3 hours for the gas shocks and ladder. Only thing gobi missed was the last 2 screws didn't come with an aluminum plate for the top ladder mount underneath the door. Strange it didn't come with instructions either so I had a piece of metal laying around and placed it there before tightening the last screws down.

Did you do anything for water sealant around the bolt holes?

I saw that in the vid. Just wondering if you did the same or went with something different.

I don't like the idea of silicone hardening up and cracking over time.......and potentially being an intrusion point for water.

I have a Gobi rack on the way and have decided to go with Butyl tape around the bolt holes thanks to @mynameistory. He has a good thread on it when he installed his Ecotechne rack.

I haven't heard of anyone using Butyl tape in conjunction with Gobi's rack mounting plates however.

    Fantastic.

Does Gobi have any recommendations for sealant included with their install instructions?

Not sure exactly. I don't have it yet and don't have the instructions in front of me. Maybe I can download them on their site.

But the gasket/mounting bracket install starts at the 11:00 mark in this video. It looks like some butyl tape around the bolt holes would be beneficial.

I'd go with what Gobi recommends, and I would be very careful to avoid any permanent sealants like the video suggests. As helpful as a video is, that guy doesn't work for Gobi.
