There's several videos and write ups online about how to remove a dash to remove the stock head unit... But anyone know how the vents and the vent "wheels" that open and close them come out? I cant find anything online about removing them. But it looks like they have to be transferred over to the dash kit.

Completed my SDHQ bumper, Warn VR8S EVO, Mile Marker thimble install - 2019 ORP.

Did most of it a few days ago but had to wait for the thimble to arrive today to "officially" complete it.

I really like the Mile Marker thimble. It's hard rubber and basically goes over the existing loop in the winch cable so there's no need for additional pins and such like with Factor 55 or Smittybilt AWS thimbles. You sling a D ring shackle through it and you're good to winch. Costs $35 with free shipping from MM, too! I ordered a second one for my wife's SR5 that has the exact same winch setup as soon as I got this one unboxed and installed.

The wheel part I think is held on by a couple of tiny screws then they fall right out; for the vents themselves, if you look closely, you'll see 4 tabs around the perimeter of each vent. Just gently lift each tab one by one to free the vent.

Yes I can put the widows down at the respective door BUT the switch will NOT pull up to close. I have owned it since new 22-Dec-2018, can't say I ever tried the windows from their doors until past Sunday.

So, window goes down with switch at its door, but will not go up with it’s door switch as that switch won’t move in that direction. But the windows work as expected with drivers door switches?

Ya, I thought it was a passenger door, but thought some of the info would be of help to troubleshoot it.

so, it’s all three passenger doors. Wow, they talk about an ecu or module in something I read this morning, I wonder if something like that is the issue.

    good luck.

Yeah I haven't done any real T-shooting yet, just quick check from OM pg 148. No luck. I'm gonna pull fuses tonite BUT I don't believe that to be an issue being I can Open from the door just not close from that door. D/S has full control. Some kinda lock feature??? :notsure::notsure: Thanks for the advice:hattip::yes:

It sure seems to be a window lock feature, but if it was locked, I wouldn’t think you could open the windowed from passenger doors. Almost seems like switches were not programmed all the way.

Yeah I agree & I really do not remember if my wife ever tried to put window up since New? She's rarely in it.On weekends she would drive when I was doing the commute @ previous job.

Added some lug nut covers today. The black blends well with the wheels and I had to add a little bit of rainbow to the ride.

Thanks man, have you done this? Was it a pain to remove them without breaking anything?

The one reason I have been hesitant on replacing the stock radio is because of the way the dash ends up looking... Unless you go with a huge floating screen the dash just looks empty... And lots of the floating screens, besides being expensive, also block the air vents... That's a no go for me.

Just seen this online... Definitely think I'll be painting mine like the 2nd picture. That looks much better painted black around the radio, seems to make it look "fuller"

Yeah, I ran the T9 for a little while, then switched to a Kenwood; so I’ve done it twice! Lol. The empty space looks worse in pictures than it does in person. I was originally worried it was going to bother me too, but it doesn't. I have the flat Metra dash kit, in black. The Schoche with the inner bezel painted a different color like that doesn't look too bad at all.

Which kenwood are you running? Liking it better than the T9? Did you install the maestro unit? Stock rear-view camera working normally?

And yeah man, i think the painted inner bezel on this one looks much better. Still not perfect, but breaks it up a little better.

Been really debating on whether or not i want to install the radio myself or pay a shop to do it. 2 different quotes from 2 different shops are both about $200 bucks with programming the maestro unit and bypassing the parking break "safety" feature. Im not a big fan of doing electrical stuff, but at $200 im tempted to attempt it. And i cant get an appointment for install until July 3rd or August.... And im not that patient LOL

I have the DMX906S, with the Maestro. Rear view camera works great, and I did the simple mod of grounding the parking break wire so I can turn on the rear camera at anytime. It also does wireless carplay, and will display TMPS too (not sure if you're 4R displays this on OEM system or not, but my TRDOR did not). Sound quality is excellent, which was my only real dig about the T9... it's sound quality wasn't terrible by any means, but it was definitely not great; that and the audio issue where listening to music over carplay would intermittently skip and pop.

Self install isn't really that bad. Especially if you order from Crutchfield and opt for their ready harness; then it is all 100% plug and play (aside from maybe grounding out the light lime green parking break wire thing, which is pretty quick and easy to do). It seems like a ton of wires and plugs, but once you start connecting things together, it all becomes pretty clear where everything should go.

Thanks for the info bro!! I got the DMX907s on the way, which is basically the same thing you have, just the 2020 model, from my research nothing much has changed. ANd no my 4R doesnt show tire pressure either, one of the main reasons i added the maestro unit.

I was told the rear camera should work anytime by just pressing the camera button. The only thing i thought the parking break was needed for was to get to certain settings or to play any videos through mirror or android auto ???

I ordered from crutchfield, but they said the ready harness wasnt an option for the 907s, because it is so new... Which is crazy because its pretty much the same thing as the 906. I did get their wire connectors and their stripper tool which looks easier than my basic crimp/stripper tool i already have. I guess once it gets here i will start pulling the dash and look to see and see if i think it would be a pain or not.

I read some not so great reviews from a notable Youtube 4runner guy. Kinda spooked me on the T9, otherwise, I was all in. The unit looks great.

    Tough decision.

Here is my initial review of the Destination A/T's and what went into my thought process behind the the purchase. There might be a point of difference or a consideration in there that will help you narrow down your choices.
