I'm trying to compile and upgrade a bit of gear before my big Utah trip happens in a couple of months, I just bought a Boulder Tools heavy duty tire repair kit, a set of Maxtrax, ARB snatch strap and shackles (Weekender Recovery kit), and a trasharoo. I have a handful more items that I want to compile but its mostly things are kinda pricy. I'm making an effort to free up space, unfortunately, most of the time high quality, reliable, packable, weight-conscious gear comes at a premium. REI 20% coupon should be coming in about a month.

On a funnier note, I got kicked out of the 4Runner Limited Facebook group today for correcting an Admin. He made a post about clearing the air on how the Limited works and said it was AWD. I pointed out the full time 4WD and AWD are not the same things and that the Limited is not AWD, that it is in fact full time 4WD and I posted a picture of Toyotas literature showing that to be correct. So I got the boot lol.

Also, I'm looking to buy DuroBumps, is there a forum discount code or anything for them?

REI is one of my favorite stores. And I agree; really good camping gear is expensive!

If you're looking at a Jet-boil but not liking the price tag, I picked up a Camp Chef Stryker isobutane stove last year and I'm very happy with it! It boils water quickly and stows away neatly.

I am looking for Jet-Boil, but specifically the Genesis Basecamp. 2 burn micro adjust stove with a 5L pot with lid and a 10” pan and it all packs up into the pot so it packs up about the size of a basketball. That will save a ton of room compared to my Coleman propane grill with burner we usually take.

It sure does. I’ve never used it but I’ve seen it in person and messed with a display version before. I’m going to use my REI 20% coupons on that and a Garmin InReach Mini (my 3 year old is a member as well so he gets a coupon lol)

Nice! You have to save money wherever you can at that place!

Honestly, their prices are fine. They just don't carry any cheap stuff. That's where I found Black Diamond headlamps and Fenix flashlights. I'm a bit obsessed with lighting.

First mod on my wife's 20. Between this forum and the Tundra forum the smallest mods seem to be the best mod lol. It really set the silver decals off seeing how it's a silver vehicle.20200215_135113.jpg

I just had the muffler cut out, and a new 14” Flowmaster put in, i like the beefy sound it gave it.

    John,
I bet that sounds great! I have just one question. Why did they weld the muffler to the tailpipe instead of using a clamp? Just curious.

What’s funny is that it came with the clear bra package from the dealership and rocks are good at missing the protected points

I have never had a good seal with clamps, just like to eliminate a problem before it starts.

After the first trip I took in mine (only had 1k miles) and I found multiple rock chips! I was so mad...never had this problem - to this extent anyway - on any other vehicle I've ever had.

Have you tried touch up paint? I was thinking about trying that?

There was a broken down buggy stuck in the arch formation. No go on that today.
I used to go out with some folks but got tired of all the excuses for being late, rigs shitting the bed, dudes with vaginosis, etc..
Now I just go solo and avoid all the group drama.

    Cool.
I don't go crazy when I'm off roading, need not to worry about that. I like to pick destination type trips vs off road parks.
Saw a nice JL on 40's out there today with some broken steering stuff waiting on a buddy to pull him out of the canyon and then get a tow from a wrecker. Poor bastard.

Dudes with vaginosis= guys that always complain and whine about little things, coffee isn't hot enough and are rude to the person working the shop, they fart around forever with their tires fretting about 1 PSI off from the other tires when airing down and or up, their trail etiquette sucks, they litter on the trails...you get it.

Rigs shitting the bed=trucks are not reliable.

    I was all in with you until you stated;
    "trucks aren't reliable"
We own 2 diesel trucks (Ford & Dodge) & they have been some of the most tough & reliable trucks I have driven in my 29 yrs of driving.
I know full size trucks suck on the trails due to width, but reliability? They are born work trucks.

I have had good luck putting a few wraps of header tape and using a band clamp. Welding is probably best, but this allows you to take the exhaust apart if you want to.
