Yes it will; after tinting front door windows & sun strip on windshield a couple years ago I kind of need it …especially on a dark rainy night

As is these didn't help much during rain. Couldn't see what I was backing into with the side mirrors and the camera was useless with the water droplets on the lens I was double blind.

Strangest thing... It snowed here in Kansas Saturday and once the streets were fairly good, I made a run to the gym in our 4Runner. It was still snowing and icing when I left and the mirrors and back window were iced up. No problem, I said. I pressed the side mirrors and rear window defroster button. The button light would not come on and neither worked! I thought it was pretty odd since she is so new. Well, I came here and did a search to see if this is a common issue. Lo and behold, someone here had posted a quick fix: roll the back window all the way down, then raise it back up completely. Then try the button. It worked! So what is the correlation between the window and the issue with the defrosters (and rear wiper not working)? Is it a fuse problem? A relay problem? I would like to know so that when I take it in for its service, I will have knowledge so that I can talk to the tech. Many thanks in advance!

Probably electrical contacts on the glass for the defroster. I doubt there are wires attached to the glass itself. Running the window down and back up likely cleaned off the contacts, restoring the electrical connection.

Thanks! Do I need to mention it when I take it in? Is there really anything that can be done to remedy that, permanently? Why would it affect the rear view mirror defrosters, too? It is under warranty...

The wiper and defroster won't work if the rear window is the slightest bit down (even if it's not open). It's possible it wasn't rolled up all the way to the top, or at least the truck wasn't registering that it was rolled up all the way. Just make sure it's up all the way next time and see if those things work. If they don't, that's when you should take it in.

Gotcha! I easily could have bumped or touched the back window switch while dusting the console. And not even realize it!

swapped out the factory hi beams for philips 9011's yesterday. took less than 5 minutes and they are very bright!

also swapped out my interior led's: red in cargo, super white in dome, and red in drivers side map. broke the housing mount (i think) on the drivers side map light trying to install the LED bulb which i am seriously pissed off about. guess i gotta drop the console and see what can be done. full description in the "how to: 5th gen interior LED thread"

also noticed that the oil plug access panel on my skid plate was dangling??? so i tightened that back up. im assuming its from when i got my oil changed? i dont know why or how that would have been able to work itself loose or anything.

I did quite a bit this weekend thanks to the unusually warm weather. It was in the low 60's here in upstate NY! I installed the Pro grille, swapped out my high/low beams, fog lights, reverse lights, and LP lights for LED's. I used the LED Pro's from Xenondepot for the high/low beams and OEM for the fogs. Not quite sure how I feel about the low beams yet, the highs are bright but I'm having second thoughts wishing I had gone with HID's instead. We shall see...

Probably a safety thing. The defroster won't work if the window isn't fully closed. Just like the rear window shouldn't roll up or down while the door isn't closed.

As mentioned, a safety thing. You don’t want to roll down an icy rear window, then hit defrost, and have all that ice melt inside the tailgate.

You also wouldn’t want to use the rear washer spray feature if the window was down.

Made a trip up to Rig’d Supply to pick up my Ultraswing and while there had them wire up their new back up camera to my head unit. It works just like factory. I sold my Wilco in favor for the Ultraswing. It is so nice! Heavy duty. Sits closer to the tailgate and the fitment overall is way better as it was designed for our rigs. The angled adjustable tire plate is great. I also add the Hi-Lift mount which is super stable and also includes a license plate mount. Their latching mechanism is super stout and they include a safety pin for good measure. I’ll be off grid camping this weekend in Anza Borrego so I can give it a proper testing. The also offer a Frontline table mount OR Rotopax mount. Will eventually go with the table mount.
