What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

I just replaced our cabin air filter at 15k.... First, don't they all look like this at 15k? Haha!



What bothers me however, the cabin air filter is covered under our maintenance plan and the dealer "checked" it and said it was fine. BS! This this is destroyed. Not cool Toyota

 

Put this 8 dollar part in and now my dash lights dim automatically like a grown up car. Search Ebay and they can be had in the US for quick shipping
Can't believe they put the wire in plugged into a blank sensor. Probably would have cost them .30 cents if that

 

Ordered a Gibson exhaust. Dual exit, black ceramic tips. $450 @ JEGS with a $25 off RACE2SAVE coupon. Also picked up an AEM dry flow drop in filter.

 

How does this work?

I don’t think any of them come with a sensor. Honestly it’s kind of a useless mod. I did it and thought I didn’t work till it rained today and decided to put my hand over it with my headlights on. I noticed the dash lights dim and come back when I removed my hand. I would never have noticed the difference if I wasn’t looking for it. I guess I’m old.

 

Got her out in her natural habitat this past weekend. She's have enough of the pavement lol

 

Are your wheels red/black?

Also, which fender flares are those?

 

Yes they are Black & Red Vision Offroad Fury 17 X 8.5 with 0 offset. Flares are the bushwacker pocket flares. I sprayed them with Raptor liner and then painted all the hardware red to match the whole black n red color scheme I've got going on.

Very nice! My wife also has black red Fuel wheels on her new trd. I’ll have to show her your fender flares. I’m guessing she’ll have to have these too.

I got these today and put them on. Quality stickers, clear instructions but they are a bit tricky. You need patience. At least more than I have! They come with an extra center stripe which I had to use, an extra emblem and three extra "dots". They are not perfect due to my as mentioned lack of patience but I think they look good. Subtle but noticeable.

That very thing is on the short list.

 

I want these so bad but it is mind boggling that rock sliders - hand built - requiring bending and welding cost only 1-200 more than some probably laser cut panels.

 

Trd skid plate and black exhaust tip, all weather floor mats.

 

I vote de-badge. Looks cleaner with no badges.

 

Black chrome exhaust tip, blacked out all badges, had front and rear valances painted a matt black to match trim and had front windows tinted to match rear windows.

Thats about it for me for awhile...

 

I like the badges on it but definitely want to make them red/black. I’ve considered an exhaust tip but unsure if she’d like it. She’s getting her windows tinted soon.
I do plan to dip the valances soon, too.
Also will be upgrading all the front lights to LED and adding some rigid ditch lights.

 

Yes I agree, they are way too pricey for what they actually are... I am going to possibly have a friend at work fab something similar in our shop at work

Installed a

$142 Borla 40665 ProXS Universal Muffler 2.5" Offet Inlet / 2.5" Center Outlet 4" x 9.5" Oval x 19" Long Body 24" Overall Length Un-Notched Necks Reversible Design T-304 Stainless Steel Universal

Borla 40665 muffler under it tonight. I am very undecided, not sure I like it. Around town it's quite loud and not the good kind of loud. From a stop, even gentle acceleration it's quite loud, again, not the good loud. On the highway I am happy, no drone and nice and quiet. I do notice an immediate difference in passing power and I notice the engine seems to not work as hard. I say that because the engine definitely climbs through the RPM band quite a bit faster than it did with the stock muffler and it seems to do so much smoother. We'll see if there is any increase in fuel economy over the next week or two and I will make my decision at that point. Only issue is, if I want to go back to stock, I have to find someone local with a stock muffler laying around!

 

That's strange. Mine is louder in local driving but not a bad sound at all. No it ain't a V8 but I don't expect it will ever sound like that and it's not that loud even with the rear window down. I noticed the same thing with the power though and I'm really liking that a lot.

 

By the way if anyone is interested, the stock muffler weighs 23 lbs. more than the Borla. Can you say better gas mileage? LOL!

Yes, no pipes included. I didn't weigh the Borla, I'm going by the weight on the Amazon web site. I weighed the stock muffler on a very accurate scale I have.

I got new Michelin X LT A/S tires installed yesterday. I've been driving from MT. to CA. dragging a cargo trailer quite a bit so I didn't need an A/T tire just for the freeway.
No shakes or shimmies with the new Michelins. They claim 70,000 mi. warranty, we shall see.
But the worn out BFG KO2's served me well for those 2,400 mi. trips back and forth.
