I have used anthracite plastidip on lots of things. I love the color!
Glad you like it. Did you get the dip coat or anything?
    Also, how many coats?
    Much appreciated!

I took off the side badges so I didn't have to do those. Those would be the easiest if you still have yours.

My front badge was the hardest. I was up in the air on whether to take it off to paint it or not. I ended up leaving it on and masking things off. I was worried all the little golf ball dimples behind the Toyota symbol were going to cause the paint to break and not tear off cleanly. Not sure if that reasoning is justified or not, but that was a worry......so I masked it off. It was a little bit of a pain. If I did it again, I think I would take the Toyota symbol off the truck and paint it. That's probably the easiest way to do it.

I didn't get the dip coat. I thought it was a bit pricey. I'm still curious to see what it does though.

I think I did roughly 7 or 8 light coats.

    Much appreciated for the review.
The dip coat is similar to a tire shine. It will keep the dip shiny. Spray on a rag & it goes a long way. Totally worth it!
Did the front peal okay with the dimples or should I spend the time to disassemble?
    Thanks again!

Nothing crazy, just upgraded the lift gate strap to the agency6 red strap, seems more heavy duty and the best part that it is direct replacement.

Pretty sure it’s stuck on with glue/double sided tape.

Really? That sucks. They used to be on there with clips back in my Tacoma days and it just popped right off.

Cool! Thanks for the heads up on the dip coat.

I masked over that dimple area with lots of pieces of tiny tape, so Im not sure if it would peel properly or not.

I briefly tried a quick search to see how easy it was to pop off the toyota symbol in the front, but didn't come up with anything for the 4Runner. I was impatient and didn't look very hard. So I just said fvck it, and masked everything off.

If the front is in fact attached with double sided tape, I would just mask everything off and paint it while on the vehicle.

If it just pops off with a couple of clips, then I would go that route.

It's a new grille. Replaced the upper with a PRO grille knock off. We'll see how long it holds up. Thx!

The front emblem is attached with tabs that lock it in place.
The front emblem is attached with tabs that lock in place. The upper grille needs to be removed in order to properly remove the emblem without breaking the tabs.

So it is possible to remove just the chrome emblem? Same start as install as pro grill..?
Taking it out would save a lot of prep time.
    Thanks!

Got it off of Ebay. From a US seller, but I'm sure it's originally from Hong Kong. Fits nicely. Just needs a bit more 3M double sided tape and test fitting prior to installing since the sides don't fit flush. Needs to be evenly spaced. 140 bucks with everything needed. Includes TOYOTA letters.

BTW, I didn't remove it to plasti-dip mine. Just masked off openings in the grille. It's easy to remove the plasti-dip from the dipples. Use a tooth-pic. Plasti-dip is very forgiving stuff.

Oh, yeah it's dirty as heck, but I wasn't gonna wash it since I was removing it.

    Here's some pics for ya...
