...^^^... Be careful, VERY careful of HD pine straw (especially in a closed vehicle) or any pine straw for that matter. I was talking to one of the HD employees a couple of year ago and he was telling me about all the stuff in the pine straw bales when the bailing machine picks up the pine straw -- from -- mice, rats, assorted bugs, scorpions, snakes and he was talking about a small rattlesnake  in one of the HD pine straw trailers that worked it's way out of a bale. There is a reason, HD women don't want to load pine straw ;) I would be more concerned of copperhead snakes as they make no sound before striking.

FWIW, one of the guys I knew years ago was putting out pine straw and a small copperhead bit him to 2 finger tips and it took a long time to heal with 50% loss of tissue on the 2 finger tips under the finger nails.

You'd be better served starting a separate thread for this if you want serious help. I agree with others, though - for what the dealer wants, you could get a much better suspension setup.

Had the truck washed at my favored local place, then hustled it home before it could develop a layer of yellow (pollen is no joke in central NC). Once it cooled off applied a coat of Wolfgang SiO2, its now set for several months. Now to get a window to do my wife's Outback.

Just completed my front and rear bumper installs, installed a new reverse camera (already had the front anytime, so now have a rear anytime as well), and installed a license plate light.

The front bumper was an upgrade from a hidden winch bumper w/lightbar to a full winch bumper w/lightbar. Opted for Amber fog lights.

The rear is 4x4 Labs and the front is an RCI Arapaho.

Got to wheel with the rear in Texas a few weeks ago:

Long drive over the Sierras, passed through the remnants of the huge +220,000 acre fire that swept through three counties and almost took out South Lake Tahoe in 2021. I just about cried when I saw this beautiful grove of Quaking Aspens destroyed by that fire.
    DeadAspens.jpg

Passed through a small squall going over Carson Pass with Caltrans setting up a chain control westbound.
    CarsonPass.jpg

Once over the summit Photon was eager to hit the nearest trail but sadly it was one of those closed for the winter.
    Burnside.jpg

Got to Reno and stopped off at a couple places to look at eye candy (suspension systems)
    Foxdisplay.jpg

It looks like the 2.5 DSC fit is good (not sure about which UCA/LCAs yet though), saw this image posted on another forum...

Tomorrow, Photon may get to run a couple of trails!

Drove home from Mammoth back down to SoCal. Average is 17mpg and realized I like to drive fast, as in 75-80 mph. I tried to drive 65mph to get better mpg but I didn’t have the patience for it.

We had head wind on the way there and cross wind on the way home so that didn’t help the mpg.

Unfortunately had to transport my 1 yr old pup (we rescued her 3 mo’s ago) to the emergency vet at 6 am today as she was unable to move her hind legs, body spasms, very lathargic and in pain. Long story short, she tested positive for lymes and had a 103.6 fever. Vet thinks she had it prior to rescue and it now just flaired up. So shes on 30 days of antibiotics + pain/fever meds. Crazy how the night before she was completely normal acting like a fool and running around to 9 hrs later and immobile. F’ing ticks!!!!! And yes she got lymes booster + monthly triple preventative at our 1st Vet visit, but it was already in her. PSA to all pet owners.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
It doesn't matter how slow you drive. I have noticed that a cross wind or head wind demolishes the MPG's on the 4Runner. Last week while driving home from work in Dallas, there was a 25 - 30 MPH cross wind & head wind. I was driving 66MPH and it was a 45-ish minute drive. By the time I got home, the read out for that particular trip: 15.8 MPG

    I usually average 19.8 - 21.0 on those trips.

Glad you got your pup to the vet quickly! Hope she makes a good recovery.

Sadly I've now heard similar stories from friends where the new dog had something that flared up and by the time they made it to the vet......... Great instincts going straight to the vet. Glad the prognosis looks good :)

I recently added a steel RCI fuel tank skid after my factory one took a couple of hard hits on a trail. I don’t understand why they didn’t manufacture the front passenger arm bracket to sit flush at the top. There’s a gap between the bracket and mounting point. Overall happy with it though.

    I wish I could see 15+ mpg!

I drove 100 plus miles on the highway the day I picked up the new to us 4Runner.. we got 13.4 mpgs. Back n fourth work I’m getting 11.9mpg.

Granted I’m on 33x12.5’s, with a winch/bumper. But that’s with an absolutely nothing in side.

I suspect by the time I get the Gobi roof rack, and RTT and build the back out, and load the thing I’ll be at 11 ish on the highway.

So that MPG is no roof rack? Dang dawg. Same set up over here but have a gobi rack. My 4runner is averaging 14mpg. Often 12 around town.

How fast do you usually drive on the freeway? I tend to keep it below 80 and usually get 15ish.

thank you. She actually stood up about 30 mins ago to reposition in her bed. HUGE accomplishment in such short time. Have to hand feed her and syringe water to her as she cant stand up for long. Shes getting there.

Time to do some interior detailing. The covers we use protect a large part of the rear 2/3rds but it's amazing how much dog hair accumulates... especially with huskies. :)

Here is under the front passenger seat after removing the rear floor mat.
