Good points - when driving around with probable cause hanging out there, that makes it easier for one's civil rights to be violated during a traffic stop. Ah yes, The Peoples Republic of Illinois. I unfortunately live there. Literally every day they are taking away our second ammendment rights. I'm leaving as soon as I can retire.

I haven't had a front plate on any vehicle of mine in exactly 10yrs - MA requires them, and so do the states around me. I ziptie the plate on for my yearly inspection, and cut it off in the parking lot of the inspection garage on my way out. I've never been pulled over for anything, including no front plate. I don't drive like a dick, so they have no reason to hassle me. I DO keep the plate on the floor in the back seat with a broken zipetie in the holes - so if I do ever get pulled over, I can say "the plate is right here - the ziptie broke and I didn't want to lose it".

That seems like a lot of trouble to go through just to be a rebel instead of just mounting the front plate and moving on with life.

2 minutes once a year is worth it to me to not drill into my bumper. To each their own.
