What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

I feel like Diode Dynamics makes a good product, but I'm not a fan of the price (these are expensive). I wanted quality so I bought them and I'm happy I did. Time will tell how reliable they will be. I'm glad I bought them.

I used Super Bright LED in the past and I had quality issues with those and they felt cheap.

 

Looks like they may have changed the design, but i've been running a set since 2019. One of my 1st "mods".

 

Anyone got photos in reverse at night

 

Would you say there is significant added brightness? Can you see a lot more?

My stock back up light suck.

 

If i can remember, i will take one in the morning. It was a noticeable difference over stock.

Sirius 921 LED on Amazon are like $15/pair. Significant added brightness? No. Are they brighter than stock? Yes. Worth the $15 in my experience.

I also put Sylvania Zevo LED's in the license plate lights and I think the increased brightness actually adds a little more light to the backup camera, as well.

 

I also have the diode dynamics back up lights. Night and day difference from the stock bulbs. I can actually see now.

ive had the sirius 921's in for like 5 years. nice boost to brightness for reverse. have not had an issue with them at all

 

Just finished oil and filter change.....greased the driveshafts......checked the boots......all fluids under the hood are good......wiped 'er down under the hood and reset the maintenance clock and done! Time for a soda!

This is exactly how mine look now after the upgrade. I'm very curious why Diode Dynamics feels the need to mention they won't work on TRD Pro and TRD ORP on their website as mine are working great. Glad I rolled the dice as they have been working.

 

Primed and applied 1st coat of paint on my sliders, tomorrow night will be 2nd and 3rd then Sat night install…..

Swore I was done with the late night, 30° nonsense …installed new horns, built over the top wire harness which I need to attach to Rago surge mount when I lower bumper next

That lights hook locking in place last night was like I won the lottery
Side note:
Didn’t do a before/after…always think of that after, but it somewhat got Maurbles(major league) back so at least when an idiot on their phone is walking across a busy street with their head down I can say “I tried”

Looks great! What kind of primer and paint did you use? I've always tried my best to paint/prep things and they never seem to last. Also, curious on the spray tools you used or if you rattle canned it.

Drove the 2011 to pick up the Grandkids at school. They had an early release day and both their parents are working.

 

My oldest son is home from college so I installed a Fumoto valve and changed the oil his 4Runner, air filter, and engine coolant. I then changed the engine coolant in my 4Runner and replaced the burned out fog light bulbs. That cover on the passenger side fog light is a real PITA!

 

When I swapped out to LED's on my 2018 that side & didn't have to remove fender well cover, just reached up & swapped out. Granted took a little pain management but I've had worst working on Rotor wings.

 

I agree. That stupid cover wasn’t easy to remove and those clips weren’t accessible at all.
