Spent a lot of time over the weekend polishing my 4Runner

Only had time to detail the exterior paint and didn't bother with interior or wheels. I was surprised how easy it was to get good results on the 4Runner paint. Here's the regimen:
Chemical Guys medium clay bar with Meguiar's detail spray
    Flex 3401VRG with Orange Pad
    Polish: Danase Swirl Abolisher I
    Wax: Collinite 845IW

Cleaned off the K&N air filters (interior and exterior). Interior was dirtier than the engine bay one. Little bit of water (and elbow grease) and leaf blower wind made a quick dispatch of the job.

Time for an afternoon nap on day off. :)

Actually started on Friday with a stop at Lexus for parts. Then replaced the brakes on Sunday before the football game.

Well the deal might not be dead just yet they came up from $34,650 to $47,800

So it does not have KDSS which I like or the sliding rear deck which I’m not too fond of actually. It’s good in some cases but you really lose some use of space with the deck.

Finally finished up the anytime, cargo aimable lights
Pics don’t do any sort of justice for these LEDbolts
Sorry…IMG_4578.jpg IMG_4581.jpg one on both sides, complete custom positioning
Gonna make some removable filters IMG_4584.jpg IMG_4585.jpg IMG_4586.jpg
which ends up replacing the rigid rock lights I had back there in white, amber, red(these)IMG_2876.jpg
    IMG_2872.jpg
which I’ve turned into magnetic flashlights for the truck…whether it’s for the engine bay, side of vehicle, or undercarriage needing maintenance
    IMG_4590.jpg
I have a an always hot deutsch connector in the engine n cargo area, n made the lights length

    edit Sidenote:
Pics kinda got moved round…one with the powerbox/controller, red button on right is for cargo lights

That was the trade in as they low balled it, and I just got up and walked out then the texting started and the difference was around $14.4 now we’re at a difference of around $4.4K out of pocket and then it’s free and clear.

These are compelling, I cannot find anything about them anywhere. Custom or who makes them? Thanks

Pretty proud of this project I just finished up. I designed all the parts and had them cut out and bent and my buddy helped me weld it up. Super stoked on how it came together.

Good on you! I'm playing with some designs myself. Post or sell your designs. I am doing something similar building up something my wife wants. I have the look she wants, I just have to reverse engineer the mounting haha

The only "weak" point I can see that might be an issue is the unsupported 90° bend that the rope comes out of... Probably never going to be an issue but time will tell if a small adjustment is required. Very nice and clean design! I might have to bother you for the design file some day!

I may do just that. Id have to tweak some of the design but it’s like 90% of the way there. It could be a cheap diy alternative to other hidden winch mounts. Are you planning on a bumper?

There really isn't any pulling force on that 90° facing. It's just a spot for the fairlead to mount and the line to enter/exit. You could always gusset the sides if you wanted.

On a side note I've found life goes much more smoothly when you have the look your wife wants. ;)

Really cool and unique set up you got there. It's got character. Great idea using the rock light for under hood lighting. Wish I could give more than one like.

She has not decided/found one she loves yet .. that is why I like your idea so much. Very nicely done! I have designed a few bumpers for my wife but we have not committed to anything. I have a metal company here that are good dudes and I can send them anything and they will laser it out. Just haven't committed the time to finish anything yet.

Yeah, that is why I was saying the only potential issue might be that piece. Pulling at an angle might bend the front a little but I was thinking the same thing that a little gusset would cover that. I'd probably try without it and see how it goes.

It’s possible. The camera really brings them out compared to seeing them in person.
I noticed the same type of hair line cracks in other places of the Transfer case. I’ll keep an eye on it. Hopefully it’s from the casting process.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Also The TC is full of gear oil.

It is part of the casting. All of them look like that so it isn't really something to worry about.

Copy that. That’s what I was leaning towards. You also see it on the cylinder heads.

Changed the oil, rotated the tires (too late to lube the u-joints and driveshaft so I'll do that later). Got to try out the oil filter canister drain tool for the first time. Worked great. That combined with the valvomax really make draining the oil much less messy. Drilling out the hole in my oil container allows me to put the drain tubes straight into the container which saves wiping off the surface oil after it's done draining.

Hard to believe I have 25,000 miles on it already.

Decided to let my 6112s settle instead of lowering um from 1.1 to 0.7 since its stupid expensive. Bought some dobinson 323 rear coils and some 5100s.

Wanna pull the trigger on some 255/75 wranglers...but

Cleaned throttle body at 107K. 1st time it's been done. Probably should do it more often. It was dirty. Also cleaned the MAF and luckily the screw I dropped fell to the ground and not some hidden abyss. Vacuumed 6 months worth of Brittany and Chocolate lab hair out.
