What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Not today, but last week, I got my oil changed and tires rotated. I was told that I need new brake pads and maybe rotors. I was quoted a little under ~$1K from the dealership.

I power washed and wire wheel’s any surface rust… then spray away…. I used 3cans… they’re 15oz vs fluid films 12oz

 

I had this intake sitting around for quite some time and decided to install. Only noticeable change is red in the engine bay.

 

Drove her to work and home today, got gas at Costco. Gonna have to go get my wheels balanced later this week. Think I may have thrown a weight off, got a nice little shimmy going on.

 

Bought rci sliders they are 8-9 weeks out!!

 

Maybe in time for things to cool off a little bit (wherever you reside in the world)

If he lives in our region then it doesn't cool off until maaaaaaaybe November. But even then....who knows? God likes to surprise us with random 90 degree days on Thanksgiving.

 

Bought AVS vent visors, did the ac drain mod, installed new weather tech style floor mats.

 

Try stepping on the gas; it's not faster but will certainly sound like it's trying. Mine is very noticeable past half throttle, but I have a quiet exhaust.

 

Thought that sleeping bag was a raccoon at first. Had to zoom in lol.

 

I've tried many camp pillows and finally gave in. Now I just bring my regular home pillow (car camping, not backpacking obviously). I sleep so much better with it. I've never found an inflatable pillow that my head didn't roll around on, sweat on, etc.

I'm curious as to the brand of your dog crate?

 

I'm considering getting these. Did you get them with the plate? I want to know if the plate is welded on or screwed on?

can I ask what bolt on rock slider fasteners ya’ll out there prefer?

My Greenlane sliders attached with grade 10 M8 bolts (13mm head) and matching washers.

 

Same size and grade for RSG, with a split washer and flat washer for each bolt.

 

I wish I don't have Toyota Safety Sense. Kinda embarrassing when the vehicle decides to brake like this imo.

Id pull one bolt at a time and put washer on them. But thats just me.

 

Same, in 30mm length. All stainless, and anti-seize

 

It's a Diggs Revol; kinda bulky/heavy but it folds up, rolls, and has a side opening feature that worked pretty well in that spot. Medium size barely fit on the folded rear seat.

 

I have them on my '23 OR. Great tires so far!

How’s the road noise and wet traction ?

 

Thanks everyone who answered my question regarding rock slider bolts.
I have rust treatment to do on that whole centre section of the 4R. So before winter I’ll swap to stainless and maybe add lock washers, not sure how much they are needed on an approx. 40ft/lb bolt. Never a bad idea.
I also plan to hit the frame with blaster surface shield or something before reinstalling sliders after rust paint dries for long enough.

The bolts are flange head so they kind of are OK but washers would surely be little larger diameter, and better!

 

I couldn't find any threads when I searched but does anyone have a suggestion for a flashlight holder? I just bought an Olight on prime day and would like to mount it somewhere in the cab.

 

I carry a tactical light but I just keep it in the center console.
