Has to be programmed with the Toyota software but they can do it. I had mine done and works great! 2021 ORP model though.

First 5th wheel tire rotation. Now that I know the pattern it’s a lot easier. Kudos to harbor freight for affordable and reliable jacks and stands. First time in 7 years I’ve had a garage to work inside. Grateful to Jesus for that. :)

    It’s official. I like my 2015 SR5P more than my 2023 Pro.

So when your low pressure light came on recently, it was the spare (with no TPMS) that was low?

Do you know if a sensor has to be on a rotating wheel in order for the system to recognize it?

New rear seat cover came in today from Amazon, aired it out most of the day. Install tomorrow. Dashboard cover is supposed to come in a couple of days.

They are Shrockworks angled up steel sliders. They were very popular, but recently went out of business a year or two ago. I am tall with longer legs, so I don’t use them as a step. My 10 year old son uses them without issue and my small wife uses them with the grab handle. Not a design for someone who would need to utilize a step to get in though.
Other manufacturers make wider angled up sliders with step plates on top, which may work good for you.

No, the sensor does not have to be on a rotating wheel for the system to monitor the pressure. At least that’s the case on my ’19 Limited.

I show on iphone Toyota App the tire press as it sits in the garage so no doesn't have to be in motion I believe:notsure:

At that point in the tire rotation schedule the spare had a TPMS. The old school valve was on the truck. Seems that the tire does not need to be rotating.

It seems to matter where you're looking. The app can read my TPS at any time. However, the mid display has a speed threshold and it shows dashes instead of tire pressure when it is below that speed. I don't know what it would do if I had a spare with TPS and got the head unit reprogrammed to show it, but I assume the spare pressure would show on the mid unit only above the speed threshold just like the regular tires. I wonder if the app would show the spare.

ETA: If you've exceeded the speed threshold and then dipped below it without turning off the vehicle, it will continue to show the last reading from above threshold.

From what I am reading from those (who have pre-2020 4Rs) with a sensor in the spare, whether a Limited or not, it seems that the sensor can be added to the system. I just have to find out what the best way to do that is. As much as I hate to, I may have to make a trip to one of the two dealerships in town.

At this point in time, I don't know if any of the information from 2020+ YM posts are applicable to my 2019.

    Thanks to all who've responded.

@wax poetic - thank you for your patience. I've been trying to clear this up, and also find a person willing to bring this if they're making the trip to ABQ.

Second brake job completed at 155k miles (first was at 85k). Guess I’ll do it again around 220k.

Stock Skid Plate? Just bought a new 2024 SR5. Haven't given the Skid Plate a good look, I kicked it and it sounded like metal. Not as cool looking as yours.

Curious as to why?o_O:notsure: I definitely like my 2023 Pro way better then my 2018 TDR OR & there was nothing wrong W/TRD OR just like the, looks, sound & extra features.

Well, it’s a TRD Pro OEM skid plate. The SR5 has a good skid but I picked this up for $225. It’s like 3 times as thick for off-roading purposes.

Right right. A Pro is badass…king of Toyotas…whether it be Tacoma, Tundra, Sequoia (spelling?), but the SR5 is just a good ole simple Toyota…and I like simple, and realizing that after I bought a newer Pro.‍:mudding:

What I didn't like about my 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport was the electronic Xffer case to 4x4. My 2 previous FJ's 08 & 12 had manual like the TRD OR & Pro. I don't like the delay when driving in snow conditions when there's not snow then a huge drift appears in head lights. Just a personnel preference ,eh!

if I could go back in time i would have never gotten rid of my 2003 Tacoma. I would trade my 4Runner to have that truck back.

:notsure: why?? Am curious as to the "down side" of trade? I was way happy to go from 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport to 2018 4R TRD OR & I do NOT like/want a true 4 door vehicle BUT the trade off was Significantly worth it to me.

No specific downside, I just prefer a truck. The 2003 Tacoma was a TRD Prerunner Extra Cab with a camper. Having a dedicated truck bed was more suitable for my needs.

However, due to life, the Tacomas (2003 and 2013 Regular Cab) no longer fit the bill. Insert the 2021 4Runner.
