    Oooh look, another mod.....

Bruh...you live in North Texas. We only need seat heaters for like 4 weeks out of the year.

Have you thought about putting a rack to protect the sun roof? I know it’s not the best if you never use a rack but that’d be one way to do it

That's some pretty sound logic. I guess I can't argue with that.

I'd love to have better light output then the h9 upgrade. But from what I read the led bulbs are just a waste of money in 2020 and older light housings.

And it's hard to tell from pictures.

My first "upgrade" was to a popular set of drop-in LEDs. They were mildly better in some ways, but worse in others. I then replaced those with a set of Phillips H9s. It was a noticable improvement all around. If you're lucky enough to find a set of OEM LEDs for a decent price, those are noticeably better than the H9s.

Took off the predator steps. It was a great excuse to use an impact wrench, which made it faster and less tedious. Now it will be easier to scoot around on the creeper without banging my head.

I installed wheel spacers – 1.25” in the front and 1.50” in the rear. I had the spacers from my old 4Runner and I wasn’t positive I wanted to install them on my new one. Glad I did. Definitely like the look!

    Rears without and with.

    even more than that,
on the pull down tab where it says select your design path...pick 'create your own design'

    I got:
    -ultimate leather
    -black main color
-dove grey faces (to match the grey headliner and door pillars)
    -red stitching
    -no piping
    -no diamond pattern
    -perforated inserts
-front and rear headrests with "TRD" in red stitching

my local upholstery shop said $400 cash to install, dealer's guy said $600 to install with warranty

^I've done this three times before on Tacomas, so it took me about an hour start to finish going at a leisurely pace after dinner. The assembly line guys in Tahara and Tijuana probably install 50 steering wheels per hour lol.

In my mental image, the clockspring is just waiting for a chance to come unwound and create a disaster, and there won't be enough space to get the airbag tucked in properly with the cover sitting flat.

^The clock spring is under no tension and the airbag stays as an assembly. Multiple videos on Youtube showing how it's done, e.g.

On my Tacoma I further separated the airbag and detonator from the cover to replace the Toyota emblem. That was a bit more interesting to see how the airbag is folded:

That video didn't look too bad, although I have to wonder whether that's really a 3/4" and not 19mm. I wonder if it would be worth going that far to straighten out my steering wheel.

Dealing with the airbag to access the Toyota emblem is definitely farther than I'd be willing to go.

^3/4" is equal to 19.05mm, difference of 50 microns.

If your steering wheel is off-center, then you straighten it out on the alignment rack by adjusting the tie rods. Attempting to shift the steering wheel by one spline tooth would be the wrong thing to do.

Yeah, but since I'm working on a metric vehicle, I start in the metric rack or look at the manual first. I wouldn't go to the SAE rack and look for the lucky match.

Too bad. :( The alignment is really good. I'd rather keep it that way and live with a couple degrees offset on the wheel.

As the "victim" of random rocks shattering a sunroof, this is my evidence from about 2 years ago:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSbVpf3zxvA

The truck in front of me threw a rock and SHATTERED mine. You can watch it in slow mode and about the 16-second mark, you can see a small object in the cloud lines and then BOOM! You can hear the glass shatter.

    Still pic:

    it hurts to watch. Sorry!

I’ve had plenty of rocks hitting my windshield but never the sunroof. I have a gobi rack so I wonder if the wind deflector mitigates projectile impacts on the sunroof. I have thought about getting the sunroof insert but the only time I had to deal with hail I was able to park under a cover and wait a few minutes for it to pass.
Personally I wouldn’t get a 4R without sunroof as I use it almost everyday and never had any issues with it but it doesn’t hurt being prepared for the worse

This nearly happened to me a few years ago. Something flew off of a big rig. I think it was a nut or lug nut. It hit between the windshield and the sunroof. It left a small dent.
