Finally gave the car for a complete suspension parts replacement. It drove like a damn boat on high seas. The shocks were complete gone and literally made the car sway while stationary even when another vehicle just passed.
New controls arms, sway links, bushings, tie rods and shocks. Everything OEM. Expensive both in terms of parts and labor.
While at it, asked the mechanic to grease the shaft etc.

LFD X-Bars will solve that issue pronto. Don't bother getting the fairing bar. The feet/claws of the Thule box won't fit around the fairing, but it will clear the antennae.

All I did today is drive to work...and check shipping status for my wheels (yeah, I decided to be like everyone else and go with pro style wheels but fn's since they're 8"). took a gamble that dark gunmetal will look good on a black 4runner (because black on black is overdone to me...and I wanted gloss not matte finish)

I dont know how much weight your going put in the cargo box but its going to scratch your roof. You'll need to add other bars to avoid scratching the top. Keep the OEM bars under it so when it sags it touches those. I had some old Thule bars but had to buy the Thule raised carrier feet & cargo box
I am rocking the XL (free upgrade from rack attack - bought the Large & when I picked it up they were out = Free Upgrade XL:yes:)

I ran a large Thule on factory bars from Maine to DC and back last summer, the clamps almost touched when tightening them but once tight, they didn't touch the roof. When I installed the bars I kept them as high as I could. We just had a bunch of camping stuff up there (tent, chairs, tarps, sleeping bags and whatnot).

    Thanks everyone,

I actually took the box on an adventure yesterday. Drove about 80 miles on gravel.

The box did bounce around and hit the roof, only a slight dent by the antenna. I was more annoyed by the sound than anything else. I had at least 130lbs in the box. It’s rated for 160lbs, had four 70 liter duffel bags that fit very easily.

I’m just going to plan on getting the Thule bars and side clasps like Kolter mentioned. What’s another 500 bucks ‍♂️

Does anyone have this Thule bars on the oem rails? I’m most likely going to get 53” bars so I have room for another box or basket.

I have a much older (1997) Thule that I put on the OEM Toyota rails. It was a very close fit, even after swapping out some Thule parts to give the clamps enough clearance from the roof.

    Here's a link to my install: https://www.4runners.com/threads/mounting-thule-rooftop-box-on-oem-cross-bars.30077/#post-463935

Another one to consider. I looked at these a while back when researching crossbars.

There is an option of hunting down a set of the 2010 to 2013 4Runner Trail roof rails. Their crossbars sit a couple inches higher then the normal roof rail crossbars. I have them on my 2021 and run a Thule Sidekick and there's room to spare under the bars.

Really, in the Aviation Industry it's the Red dot & there is NO Yellow dot on A/C tires. So I am corrected in the auto industry ,eh!

Much appreciated, looked for these years ago and they were originally only sold in Canada. Have not looked since so may have missed it.

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.

I traded in a '22 Explorer ST with the Bang & Olufsen system for my '23 Limited with the JBL system. The B&O was MUCH better than the 4R's JBL...

Really excited to meet James in August. This guy's A-Trac videos and his 4Runner Vs. Jeep video convinced me to go for the 4Runner.
