Got my new RRW RR7-H wheels in today! I’ve been eyeing these wheels for a long time. I always wanted them on my Tacoma. Can’t wait to get these on after the lift!

I did this mod 200K miles ago, and installed a K&N filter (don't oil to much-it will end up messing up the MAS) not sure it helped but sounds cool when you mash on it. 340K mikes and counting.

Drove around 125 miles. Got the GT Radials warmed up at flat highway speeds. No vibrations at all, even braking. AC was too cold, had to turn it off. Did some light off-roading just to flex the suspension.

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
Since I live in a "development" with unpaved roads, I use a long way home to excersize the 4WD once a month. I discovered the recommendation to do that on this forum someplace.
My 87 only got 4WD'd when I needed it, and in Yuma, that wasn't that often. No snow, ever. Well, I can't say that. We saw snow falling ONE Christmas Day, out at work. So, after 30 years, I saw snow fall once. It didn't stay, melted on impact, but it DID fall.
The only time I needed 4WD in Yuma, other than off-roading on purpose, was when it rained. NOT a frequent event. 3" a year tell you anything? My access road was that red Colichi mud, and when it rained, enough, it got slicker than greased ice. Since there was a canal on one side, and a 10-15 foot drop into the farmer's field on the other, I was VERY careful! At least for that 1/4 mile :)
A lot of the off-road trails I used were just plain fun to run on. You had to use normal caution, but other than that, how much trouble can you get in in sand? Beach for 100's of miles in any direction, just no ocean.
But that was Yuma. Up here, when there's snow and ice on the road, most of the winter, I use 4WD a lot more. It feels like when I shift into 4H, it's like turning on an extra gravity generator. Clamps the truck down to the road for a treat! Stopping is still a bit of an adventure, but going is easy as pie. Corners great. That was the 87. This winter, I'll see how the 99 does. I haven't had it during a winter here, yet. I know it has a vastly upgraded suspension. The way it corners and all that fun stuff is totally different. Better. So, I excersize it once a month. I want it ready to rock come this winter :D

    Have fun, all!

Went to a car show. I was gonna enter but it was spooky and I got scared. And I didn’t want them to see my “4Runners.com” sticker cause they might link me to this site.

Big oak limb smashed it. I’m over it. It got beat up already from deer. Just adds character. Prob have it repainted in the future.
The roof rack saved it. Even blew of a molding around the sunroof.

So this just draws air from under the hood? Probably wouldn’t pas ca. Smog
Question: I just got a 5 speed. Is 5th gear an overdrive? Doesn’t feel like one.

Toyota says it is. I've been driving their 5 speed MT trucks for more than 30 years, so it seems like an overdrive to me. I dunno. The truck I learned to drive in was a 57 Chevy Stepside pickup. 4 speed MT. Normally only used 2,3,4 though. 1st was a granny low.
Then I got a 4 speed MT Chevy Luv. Read Isuzu Trooper II with a Chevy body on it. 4TH was almost an overdrive, but not quite.
Traded it in on my pickup. Yes, the one in my sig. I loved having that 5th gear. It would really cruise nice in 5th. Same with the 87 4Runner. Heck, same tranny, really, with the addition of the transfer case.

So, I've never driven a vehicle with an "overdrive" other than my Toyotas. 5th does seem to do a great job at highway speeds...

Did a little more research and 5th is an overdrive (.83 to 1.00). Not sure what the diff. Gears are but with the 15’’ wheels it was 3000 rpm at 65 mph. Now with the 17” wheels it’s approx. 72 mph at 3000 rpm. Much better.

Bummer! I hope he/she is OK. I hate hospitals. They never listen to the patients.

Best of luck to your friend! Hope they get out soonest. In good condition, obviously.

I hear ya. The well I had drilled on my property in Yuma had LOUSY water. I had to filter the heck out it, soften it, and run it through an RO system before it was fit to drink. Still tasted ousy.

I wish your friend the best. May they come out the other side of all this in good shape!

Not today, but a couple weeks ago I put 3500+ miles on the rig and passed the 350K milestone on a road trip out west. Definitely didn't get enough pictures.

With the deckplate off yes. If you put the deckplate back on it will pull air from the behind the fender. I removed the intake silencers as well.

Little late, but a couple days ago we had a guy come by our house from Portland, Or., and put a ceramic coating all over the truck. Not only does it LOOK beautiful, but it feels slick as ice. I went to lean on it to step down a curb (my balance is totally shot), and my hand shot off the truck like it was oiled ice.

I can hardly wait to see what the mileage is now. I know that water just beads up and rolls off like the whole thing is made of Teflon. It rained last night. Even the glass beads nicely, like it had RainX put on it.

It cost us $700.00, but if you amortize it across the minimum 5 year life-span, it's only $10-$12.00 per month. Not too bad at all. He told us, and of course it yet remains to be seen, that if we use the conditioner and soap they sell, very reasonable prices, BTW, it'll last indefinitely.

We got the guys company name off the Fakebook group Lady Owned Toyotas. I think you can guess what they're all about, but they're all good people. They just did a run over to Coos Bay, and the dunes right there, and had a blast. Looked like lot of Toyota 4 wheelin fun.

    Have fun, all!

Went hunting, saw two doe, a six pointer, AND what might be the biggest buck I have ever seen. Snorted at me ten times!!! I fueled up at a Sunoco, high test, I have to say I felt a difference, much smoother acceleration, it just a few miles after fill up. I will be going back for sure!
The deer didn’t present a good shot, and I saw the groundhog again.

Heard a loud tap yesterday after school.

Opened up the hood, and what immediately sounded like an exhaust leak was actually a loose spark plug boot.

Pushed it in to no avail, lifted it slightly (hoping it'd pop up, nothing) to no avail.

So I figured screw it, buy new plugs and wires and check the issue.

Right away found the wires at Napa and dual electrode plugs ar O'Reilly's -

    20211108_135823.jpg

Out with the old plugs and wires -

    VideoCapture_20211108-153237.jpg

Come to find out, the spark plug tip had been partially broken off hence why the boot couldn't stay firmly seated.

Anyway, in with the new -
