Just rolled over 150k miles. Figured he was becoming a teenager so had to give him a bit of a tougher look. Pulled the running boards off and plasti-dipped the bumpers and badges. Was planning on doing the rims too but I find myself kind of liking it like this. I plan to re do the plasti dip and add a clear when this coat breaks down.

Went to Auto Zone and used their vacuum pressure gauge to test my fuel pressure regulator. Just cause of mileage and age. But it tested fine....2B587CCA-CF98-4BD4-A695-7AA4132844C8.jpg

These trucks have amazing lifespans, don't they? Most of the parts on the engine on my 4Runner, the 87 at least, are still factory.

Toyota never bought into the concept of "Planned obsolescence" that American car makers live by. Probably why they're so popular, and so many, relatively speaking, are still on the road, driving happily all over the place. America, Australia, UK, heck all over the world. You see a truck driving around in a 3rd world country, it's probably a Toyota of some kind...

    Have fun, all!

biggest issue with Toyota vehicles...is paint problems...and frame rust.....avoid frame rust, and they will roll on and on.....

Early 2000's Toyota cars are considered the best ever made. They later ones in the last 10 years...not so much. I'm not so sure they haven't finally bought into the planned obsolescence concept recently.

With the help and expertise of my newest friend @fajitas21, that I never would've met without this forum, we installed my suspension lift, UCAs, and deleted the front sway bar. Took the whole weekend pretty much, but learned a ton and had a good time doing it despite the blood and sweat it took removing all the old components. Also, big shout out to @Ahkouchi for helping me find the associated replacement hardware and other goodies. Great folks on this forum!

Went with Bilstein 5100s, OME 881 fronts, 890 rears, and Freedom Off-road UCAs.

Lastly, had a shop install new inner and outer tie rods with my alignment. Drives like a brand new truck now.

If you weld, just get an Eimkeith kit.

They weld on and improve strength tenfold. I only went with Lotus as I don't weld (yet).

I will say I did hit a rock pretty hard and aside from marring the finish, they're holding up well.

I did run into an issue where the bolt on my rear lower control arm was coming loose (even when torqued to spec). Found out after a shakedown on a trail -

    IMG_20210302_181632_446.jpg

Since using loctite on said bolt, it's been tight ever since. Fortunately the skid kept the bolt in place while on the trail.

    Same.

I'm definitely going to double-check mine now, and hit them with the paint marker so I can keep an eye on them. I'd imagine mine are nice and seized up though

Well I get a WOT of 32 mph. With a stainless prop. I was getting 35 mph but I had the carbs cleaned and adjusted and the timing reset. So it starts and idles great, gets right up on plane.
I had a tripod trolling motor mount but I broke it jumping waves.
    16 gallons of fuel…
