What do you have still waiting to be installed?

Been dying to get my Sherpa Crestone rack installed, been sitting in my garage for probably 6 months now…meh.

Next nice day, just do it. I did it myself, using 2 ladders in my driveway. I installed one side rail at a time, not tightening things down till I had all the crossbars loosely installed. Definitely do the rear most cross bar and 2nd from front bar installed first to help provide a little more stability first. Be cautious when tightening the rail feet to the roof, so you don’t overtighten. I got it done in 4 hrs because I had the flat plates on top, and one of the side window panels (still haven’t installed the driver’s side one).

 

Still to do:
• DR KDSS front sway bar rings, and relocation mounting plates
• DR KDSS override KDSS switch
• Ironman 4x4 UCAs

New to do:
• C4 Low Profile high bar front bumper w/Extreme LED light bar, and Warn EVO 10s winch (need to build something in wood to help me install it, as it’s heavy).

 

Still to do
- rear shock skids
- wire reverse lights for bumper
- ARK rear mud flap deletes (need to solve issue due to new rear bumper)
- Rear diff breather

 

Fit and finish is on par with the GFC Superlite RTT More feet room due to the top opening higher and it is wider by 5 inches. Also it's 10 inches shorter and I gained 1 mpg better also. Less noise then the Superlite also

Thanks! It's the Rigd ultra swing. I got the Tacoma version so I can mount 2 4-gallon rotopax in the back.

 

The only things I install are gas and occasionally oil and filters.

 

Lying in the garage and still to install:
- Front UCA and LCA
- Eibach Shocks
- stock coils
- wheel well covers
- MAF sensor

 

Hey thanks for the tips! Yeah I live in a fairly foggy area and worried I won’t finish quick enough should the wet fog come in.

Rear bumper light wiring is a fun time

 

Kinda dreading it. I mean at least it’s a kit from Diode, but I don’t wanna run that wire the whole length

Ya I bought 14awg truck trailer wire. Went from battery so I can turn on at any time (with switch on dash). Crossed engine bay at firewall dropped down followed passenger frame rail

 

I might be able to do it next week, maybe

 

Roof basket (going back on for vacation in fall) with traction mats

 

Received my ARB diff breather kit and veepeak obd2 scan tool. Diff (and elocker) will probably wait until fall when it cools down a bit more.

Going to knock off the AVS hood and windows (still on the list) in the morning and try out the veepeak with an app I downloaded on old iPad that can't be upgraded anymore - will see if this last ditch effort will repurpose it or if it goes back to Apple to be recycled

 

Are you gonna route the breather to engineer bay or where the jack is at?

 

Excellent question - I don't know yet. Jack is one option, I think I've seen fuel filler compartment as a possible option too (both are really close).

I'm going to do more research and decide after but I'm leaning towards engine bay. I like the idea of keeping it close, and in the interior because it seems much easier than running it all the way up to the engine bay. I do, however, have a C4 engine bay mount that it would attach to nicely but that and the blue sea systems switch (for winch) are also still waiting install. When I install those I want to armor the winch and front camera cables with that plastic loom (or whatever it's called) while I'm in there. Will probably do it all at once.

I haven't researched in quite a while since I decided I was going to lift. I knew I shouldn't do it before then or I would be guessing at how much slack to leave. Now that I'm at final height, it's go time so I need to refresh my knowledge.

From what I remember, there were two things that put me in analysis paralysis. For the engine compartment, I'm threading the hose all the way up front past things that are hot and things that can move. I don't want to melt or break that skinny hose. Also seems like a really long way for it to breathe through a straw. In the jack area, you're now essentially venting into the cabin.

I've got to do a lot of reading again before I make the final decision.

 

Update on recently done, C4 bumper with light bar, and winch. Damn heavy kit for me to do alone, so built a basic wooden frame on top of a $15 furniture moving dolly. Rear chase lights added and wired up.

Now that you’ve had this for awhile, how’s it working? Any issues with heat while under driver’s seat? Any parasitic draw even if handset is unplugged?

 

I have an 8 panel SwitchPro that I’ve connected it to. Then programmed their panel button to continuously blink when double pressed (on solid for single press, or for full off).

7. ARB Hi-Output mounted dual air compressor, custom made 1.75 slim aluminum air tank, 4 hose kits w/accessories and digital pressure compressor connection (not mounted because I'm leaning towards PowerTank now)
8. Magellan TRX7 CS Pro Off-Road Navigation kit
9. 4 3-way touch screen switches (basically rocker switches but they don't rock back and forth, theyre touch screen) to wire ditch light to high-beam trigger, rear backup light bars to back up lights and separate trigger, etc
10.Recoil fuse block (6 fuse), recoil pos/neg bus bars, 150A primary fuse/circuit breaker for secondary "hot system"
11. Koyorad Hyper V-Core radiator with
12. external transmission cooler
13. Mishimoto (modified) 6 row performance oil cooler w/push kit
14. MAF and/or upgraded throttle body assembly

That's whats still in my garage. This is my first time getting my hands dirty, so things are taking a little longer to assemble. I do have one hell of a tool box now tho.
Item's 10 - 14 are waiting to get installed for when my super charger comes in. Just sayen. LOL.
