What do you carry in your 4R all the time and why?

It's OK if you open it a handful of times per year. I use another one to store a propane Buddy heater on wheeling trips, and it survives all the bouncing in my Tacoma bed. I use a smaller version of the same design to hold a jug of coolant, and one of the plastic latch paddles broke on that one.

Toilet paper

Fire starting gear
Compact shovel
Hatchet
Spare socks/clothing
Tow straps/shackles etc.
Small selection of canned food enough for several days
Cell phone battery pack

All of this takes up very little room and very much worth it if needed.

This is a biggie in my book, Have several hard rubber wheel chocks laying around in the garage.

Moved the recovery stuff to deeper storage where the 3rd seat used to live.

A compressor, battery jumper, jumper cables, first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, blade w/ emergency window breaker, dome light flasher, socket set, breaker bar, extra engine oil, 30 ft tow rope, extra fuses, roof straps, mini shovel, tire service step, etc...

 

I have to be honest, since I bought my 11, back in 18, I have not carried any tools at all, it is a 4Runner. When I had my suburban, I carried an enormous amount of tools.
I do carry: several IFAKs, several tourniquets, extension cord, gloves, gerber tomahawk, vinyl gloves, hitch, bungees, LED flashers.
For road trips: my first in bag, Milwaukee inflator, a tool bag, bin of blankets, jumper cables, MREs.

 

Damn, never thought of lug nuts specifically for the spare.

For general/daily about 90% of what's on this list, the full compliment when I'm on a trip.

A 85 q "Bug out bag" that includes enough food, ammo (.22 rim) take down Stevens .22 rifle, saw, knives, and all the other stuff you need if you get stuck on a pass for a day or 4.

 

Ahh the Leatherman, I bought 2 of these when they first came out because i had a thing for the Swiss Army knife as a kid. Got them from the ads in the back of some sport magazine back in the late 70s early 80s. still carry the original have the 2nd in my safe thats going to my grandson in about 7 or 8 more years.

 

Whatever was in the car when i bought it(e.g. paint sealant, first aid, travel kit, manual, cargo net, lug nut lockers thing), Battery jumper(useful device that even charges my phones,etc) , extra jump cables, window shatter thing. City has gone down hill to carry valuables like i used to. Had to take remove firearm(even my rifle), tool kits, ammo, survival food, etc! Just take them when i do outdoors stuff.
