Yeah but it all fairness the dude has one of the last V8 engines which in my opinion is pretty sweet. Punch that thing and enjoy the sound and go. If they had a sportier version I would probably get one. But as a single guy with no kids for me 4R is visually more appealing. It’s all trade offs I guess.

Let just say I have an engineering degree and a masters in finance, so got that math thing covered. It comes to about 10 bucks a week or less for how I drive, and I can swing that without much thought. I do appreciate your thoughts.

You get it! It is a sweet sound and hopefully quite durable.

I hate the push button start, I wish it had a key. I also wish it didn't have a touch screen.

It’s a two step process. Google the home link setup and check it out. You have to pair the remote with your truck, then hit a button on your garage motor to learn a new remote then you go back into your truck and press the home link a bunch until it registers

I hate the size, front is a little over-styled the pre-2014 were better looking imo. I think I speak for everyone when I say it needs better rustproofing. Every 4runner from the first to the last could use better rust proofing.

What happened to all the rad graphics? The first and 2nd gens had them it it looked so cool, it's been 30 years and it's time to bring it back.

2013 Limited here, 3rd row seats don't even remotely fold flat. Had a previous 5th gen 2nd row and '96 Limited 2nd row both had bottom pull forward seats that went flat. Thought they all did that and still kicking myself...

Might look into removing seat bottoms to see if seat backs will sit flat.

This. I am building a platform for my 2011 3rd row for this reason. I can't sleep unless I am 100% flat.

Having a bad shoulder.. I would appreciate if they offered a power rear hatch. Would be a nice feature.

There are several companies that make a power rear hatch kit. This is just one: https://www.ensightauto.com/products/plg-4run

now that i've had the car for about 2-3 months these are my pesky quirks, but i am coming from bmw e46 model..

i have to have the seat all the way up... i feel like i need a booster seat of some sort..
the rear seats gap feels very cheap to me.. very clunky back there
heat seaters have a scroll wheel (yes i forget to dial it back down to 0 and wonder why my butt is warm)
cupholders pop out when having a drink in them (they come with the drink.. )
the ride is so high i feel like i am scraping the seat everytime i climbing in .. (might need some running boards)
i wish the steering wheel had better layout/options for buttons
can't just drive around in 4wd.. (this was news to me!!..thought this was the whole point.. that we're all out here from time to time in 4 wheel drive... probably the biggest bummer)

    things i like:
i like being high up and above the world!
i feel like i driving a tank .. i drive nice and slow and rarely gun it..
i love being able to go down dirt roads and not be scared of getting stuck..
    doggies go everywhere with me
rear window goes down ... IT DO GO DOWN!!!

I wish adding bigger tires was less involved (bumper trimming, or BMC). I wish the 360° cameras had a much higher resolution. I wish mine did have a heated steering wheel. I wish the tail lights were darker / tinted out from factory. Wish TRD ORP trim level sound system was better. I wish sound insulation was better,

Turning radius isn’t that bad, and actually better than the AWD Venza I traded in, and better than my wife’s old Acura TLX SH-AWD. Stock acceleration isn’t bad on it, but it isn’t enjoyable going flat out. Which is fine as I don’t like the mpg going flat out, lol. Original suspension was great, buttery smooth on the road. Never experienced this nose diving folks seem to complain about, but I’m not trying drive this like a track car. I enjoy driving the vehicle at the posted speed limit,

I've had my '23 Limited for several weeks, already done a bunch of stuff to it: Airaid intake, oil catch can, 275/55 ATs, Pedal Commander, LED interior light kit (includes puddle lights and license plate lights), Summit Racing oval muffler. Few more things are on the way: door inserts, Fiamm horns, LED bulbs for DRLS and reverse lights, yellow overlays for driving lights. As the thread states, these things are dangerously slow when accelerating, so the Pedal Commander takes care of that (mine is set to Sport +2). So far the one thing that's really annoying is the fact that you can't just change the bulb in the driving lights if you want yellow fogs, you have to change the entire light assembly. Some of the prices I've seen for these driving light assemblies borders on the absurd, so spending $20 on those Lamin-x yellow overlays should scratch that itch for now.

I hate the automated braking system. I get tired of it automatically braking for a vehicle when I can see that the vehicle will be turning and safely out of the way.

Ha. I thought I was the only one who didn't like this. I have to hold on to the SIDES of the steering wheel to feel the heating element. Well, at least I have it. Others don't.

The NHTSA recommends holding the wheel at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock. If you do what the government says, you are rewarded with warm hands. If you are a renegade, you risk frostbite. :D I adjusted my default hand position from "10 and 2" to "9 and 3" a while back for other reasons. Now that I have a my 4Runner, I LOVE the heated wheel and rarely notice the cold sections.

I read that a common injury among drivers in frontal collisions is broken thumbs from having their thumbs caught on the wheel while their hands travel forward on impact. Supposedly some (most?) first responders are taught to lay their thumbs on the wheel, oriented vertically, to avoid that. It felt weird to me at first, but now it's comfortable.

    No threadjack intended.

Back on topic, after two months of ownership I'm still in the honeymoon phase, but I will say that the navigation system really sucks, in my opinion (same as in my Highlander and F-150). Compared to the Garmin GPSs that I have used in the past, these are all cumbersome at best. I especially hate the five minute lecture they give you if you don't format your voice request to their liking.

Because my 5th Gen 4runner is so old, I hardly have any 'new' annoying things. It's so analog and stress free that the only thing that bugs me is that the no seat belt chime takes to long to shut up.
Of course if I ignore that it's a 13 year old TRUCK, then I practically have a laundry list of things I don't like about it. Poor NVH levels, poor driving position, excessive wind noise, cabin plastic quality, poor mpg, power delivery, poor handling, high speed stability, rusting issues etc.

The dealer can remove the no seat belt chime (they did for me) with their tablet programmer.

When gassing up I reset the trip (A) odometer. Resetting this doesn't reset the average MPG shown on the "After Reset" screen of the MI display. Yes, I know the average MPG for the tank is also shown on the "after refueling" screen and I know that I can reset both on the "after reset" screen by pushing two separate buttons.. It just seems logical that resetting the trip odometer would also reset the average mileage like it does on every other car I own.

One more, the old school clock located above the Infotainment system. It looks so out of place now. Probably look better if I put some electrical tape over the clock.

This was my solution to the seat belt chime noise: https://www.seatbeltextenderpros.com/toyota-4runner-seat-belt-extender/

Not only shuts up the seat belt chime but makes it a lot easier to buckle your seat belt since it raises it up up a bit. NOTE: Before I got the buckles in the link I got some cheap knock-offs on Amazon. Waste of money...they worked for about a week and then were almost impossible to buckle.

Useless center stack cubbies, engine that sounds like a vacuum cleaner, fake carbon fiber in the TRDP and cheap shiny black plastic.

I can't understand adding a possible failure point for a seatbelt just to get rid of a chime.
