Thank you ! I had to learn all of that the hard way, but it is good life advice and has helped out quite a few friends & family in the last 2 years alone !

Well, the insurance industry is a B thats for sure. Good that you took good notes though lol. Diminishment of value is absolutely massive and I want to say that 97% of claims I worked never received a DOV claim on top of the original claim.

The guy who hit my wife was uninsured, but he was driving his daughter’s truck and after a search at the DMV we found out she was insured through Geico.

Geico fixed the Jeep but refused to honor of diminished value claim and I had to hire a lawyer to chase after them.

We traded the Jeep in for like $8000 less than it was worth, and I think like two months ago, that’s almost 22 months after the accident, I finally got a check for $3500 which is what they believed was the diminished value.

    The Jeep is long gone.

Of that $3500, I’d be interested to know how much went to your attorney and what you got to keep.

    OP, glad you weren’t hurt.

Lawyer man took about 900 bucks.

There were probably another $250 in fees.

Man, this is still in my head. It like a gut reaction feeling like this isnt supposed to happen to 4runners. :(

At least they are actually replaceable…

Man, I am so sorry. I’m so glad you are ok. Some people on this board don’t understand how bad the drivers in Sacramento are. It is horrible here and the insurance companies know it. I’d be bouncing back and forth between tears and screaming at the guy.

No turn signals, last minute braking, running late yellows/reds, etc. It's pretty bad from a driving perspective.

    This was on Watt.

Watt is HORRIBLE! By 80 or 50? My eldest when to St Francis and youngest played volleyball out at Mather. I drove Watt a ton. Man, I’m so so sorry but glad you are ok.

That Sucks and I hope you’re okay …
I’ve been forced to basically be a teleworker since a Tornado that hit Nashvile, TN & following week COVID Hit , so don’t drive as much as I did … Anyway, this past week I ran a couple errands for about an hour and while I was out I witnessed about (5) drivers running RED Lights! … freaking getting nuts out there these days!

    Hope all goes well!

That sucks. My ORP got crushed and flipped with 600 miles on it in June and still dealing with the fallout. And that is with both video and CalTrans employee witnessing what happened.

Appreciate you man. He had just come back from the East Side of Rubicon on a snow clearing mission. Was a good ride. We'll see if they try and fix him up.
