    Re: the trailer connection.
For myself, I made a removable 20" long extension that locates the plug-in near the one of the safety chain rings.
Although I do like that the factory plug is tucked out of the way, it's only a minor inconvenience for me.

But, I also think that plug should've been incorporated into the rear cross member behind the bumper cover. With it either exposed or behind a flip-up cover.

What a cool, must have mod. Looks close enough to OEM for me. Thanks for posting.

Found this discussed on another forum, seems like it would work to relocate both plugs to underneath the bumper:

Got mine. Excellent craftsmanship. Love it. Cleans up the back end and looks like it is OEM.

Very nice, thanks for the photo. Did you drill pilot holes or just use the self-tapping screws to make their own hole?

I used blue tape on the back side of the top panel to find the center of the latch, let it extend above the top of the panel about 1/2", took a sharpie and made a mark so I could see it from the front side. temporarily put the panel in, used the mark on the tape to transfer the centerline above the panel, then used the template to mark my holes. Used an automatic punch, very small bit to predrill and it came out perfectly with a tight fit!

I used the self tappers but it was kind of a pain. Ended up taking them out and putting them slightly further back because my door was too loose. I'd recommend making a small pilot hole with a drill bit to make it easier on yourself. I did it the hard way twice

So the template has marks as to how far in (from the outside surface edge) to make the 2 holes for the bracket?

Yes, If for some reason the self tappers ever loosen over time you can just use some plastic/metal Weld on the bracket and that'll work great. I thought about doing that to begin with but the self tappers are pretty snug. Just don't back them in and out too much and try not to over tighten them or they'll start spinning and become loose

Ditto. I used the self tapping screws and found myself thinking "I should just get my drill out and run a pilot hole". Hung in there with the self tapping screws until I completed the task. In hindsight I should have just followed my intuition as it would have been easier and quicker. Good results none the less

I attempted this today. Didn't quite get the catch in the right place. I'll try again when it isn't so dang hot out. Pilot holes are the way to go.

Installed these this past weekend. Def not a fan of the self taps...they began to spin on my first attempt. It doesnt help that i have tall drawers in the back so getting good leverage or even a drill was difficult.
